A question regarding mailboxes...

My SO and I recently moved into a rental house and it has a brick mailbox but there is no flag or way of indicating outgoing mail. We had one in there for several days but it was never picked up. We had emptied the box and placed the mail in with the stamp out(It was the only thing we could think of) but it was never taken out.Is there some other method of letting the postman know that there is outgoing in the box? TIA, TravisSee More
