So THAT'S the problem! HURR DERR DERP!
So, I said before I got a GEM 1912 as a gift from my mom. I also said it was an okay shave but not the best.
I was an idiot and didn't know it yet. In fact, I didn't know how wrong I was doing it until tonight, when I discovered that I was using the wrong blades.
Yeah, that's right, when I asked the person at Walmart (I know, I know) for single edge shaving razor blades and they came back with some, I should have read the pack before buying them, but I have apparently been shaving for the last week or so with utility razor blades. I am disgusted with myself, but at least I was using new ones, not the ones from the garage my brother tried. I've ordered my first DE razor, so I'll be making more posts on that in the future, but also I have decided to follow my brothers journey into SE shaving once I buy some blades. Any ideas on where to buy some that are actually for shaving? And for cheap? I'll also be trying out my GEM again with the new blades as well.

Is there really such a big difference in SE blades or were you referring to the DEs? I've only found three or four different types of SE blades online, while I have seen more different kinds of DE blades than I can remember. I have heard pretty universally that Feathers are great blades, but otherwise there doesn't seem to be a consensus.

I cancelled the amazon order of those blades. Thanks to a tip in the chat, I'm just going to go get some from Walgreens tomorrow instead.

CVS sells them in the shaving section. Next to DE blades. Around $6.
