I have taken odd jobs, trying to pay off student loans. I feel trapped in my current situation.

I want to move but not sure where. My family doesn't talk to me and I don't have friends to hang out with anymore (they are busy raising their family, etc.) I am not married and there are no kids.

So, what would you suggest?

John, I have tried 10 medicines.

Depression, actually, causes a warped view.  As does any other extreme emotional condition.  You mentioned being blinded by "happiness," well it's the same for sadness, anger, depression, etc.  Finding a balance is key.

John, we have had our moments, but have remained friendly for a long time.  Please believe me when I say that I wish you all the best.  And, to that end, I implore you to seek help.  Could be in person, could be over the internet...but seek help.

Have you tried medication?

Another thing that helps is helping others.

well its great that you see the world that way but others do not. Some of us are not blinded by what some call "happiness". Depression does not offer "false belief", it has opened my eyes.

A few years back my college roommate committed suicide.  (His mother called me.)  As I drove home that day, I saw the sun on the trees, and the blue sky, and thought:  you idiot!  You're _missing_ it!

He was bipolar.  It made his mind up for him, just as it had earlier made his mind up to be a liar, philanderer, druggie, and eventually violent.  He may have thought he was cynical and wise -- but he was completely snookered by it.  To the point of death.

I hope you don't, John.  I won't argue.  If anything can get past the web of false belief depression smothers you with -- if you can give up commitment to the things it tells you and just live for a while -- I'll be delighted.

there are no positive aspects of my life. I am done looking for a job.

John, suicide is rarely a choice made freely.

Perhaps rather than listing the negative aspects within your life, you should create a list of those which are positive, and those which are neutral in nature.

Which manner of employments have you participated in previously?

I am in debt, no support system, have a job that will end soon, and a love life is non-existent. I have thoughts of suicide every day. I decided thats my best option.

"My completely haphazard observations lead me to believe that, either because of incomplete brain development or lacking motor skill refinement, kids are naturally inclined to wrestle more than hit. When they do hit, it seems awkward."
