Does anyone else wish they had discovered this website sooner?  Growing up, my dad was around but not really.  I was never taught many of the things on this website.  So naturally, I taught myself how to do the things a dad would teach a son.  Although we are close now, I wish this knowledge was around for me when I was younger.  I now look forward to teaching these skills and life lessons to my son.  (whom will be turning 1 next month)  Thank you Art of Manliness!

I can definitely relate to that sentiment. My own Dad was the breadwinner for our family, but he also made his own work schedule when he became self employed because he enjoyed work to the point it ran away with him. I never had th eoppertunity to do things with him I wish I did: going to the pub, going to public events or sports, learning manly skills, the father son talk etc. These are all things that could have made me closer to him, and now that Im taking steps out into the world with the end of university coming up soon, I feel I have missed some things. Hopefully when i have my own children I can at least pass on the wisdom I learnt from this site and the books as well as any I pick up

Yes, I am pleased to have found this site. The ideas presented and the discussions that take place in the community area (well some of them at least)are reinforcing to a manly attitude.  I check in here almost daily to see what men are thinking, and while many of the discussions are petty, every once in a while we hit on a topic worth thinking about--something that opens the door to a new world of discovery and contemplation. We are lucky to have such a great resource.

Congratulations on your son's upcoming birthday. I have always felt that the years between 2 and 4 are the most special to be an involved parent.  Kids evolve so rapidly during those young years, and its amazing how much they can understand their world and learn from you.  Good luck!
