Today, after lots of thinking and meditating, I came up with my five Core Values for day one of being a better man.
Here they are, prioritized, and explained:
1.) Family & Friends - (respectively) When a situation comes up, or a schedule complication is created, Family is ALWAYS first for me. It's part of my Chamorro culture! I'm also really close to most of my friends, and some of them I would even consider family. Friends come in second after family, and everything else can wait.
2.) Health - Recently, I have made a personal vow to maintain a healthy Mind, Body, and Spirit. In life, I will make HEALTHY decisions that are beneficial to my well-being. This is important to me because I wish to make my life as enjoyable as it can be and I aim to live my life to it's fullest! Carpe Diem!
3.) Action - By action, I don't mean shoot 'em up, running from secret agents kind of action. Instead, I mean to ACT on my BELIEFS, and to strive towards accomplishing what I set my mind to. By making this one of MY core values, I believe it will be easier for me to stand up for myself, my beliefs, and my friends.
4.) Confidence - I used to be REALLY shy and quiet, and I didn't have much confidence in myself. In school, I took an elective class that was very social, and was based on helping kids expand their comfort zone. It helped me break out of my "shell". With confidence as a core value, I aim to maintain the self confidence that i gained from that class.
5.) Last, but certainly not least, ADVENTURE!!! Along with my vow of health, I promised myself that I would be more active in order to have a more enjoyable life. So, I took up longboarding, and took a refresher course on belaying so I could be a certified belayer. I have a very supportive group of siblings who take me on mountain bike rides, rock climbing, and so much more! I aim to be a B.A. kinda guy!
