Hip Hop Jesus

Another entry of music written in my teenage years

My man Jesus

Spit the facts from Nazareth to Caesarea

Unmasking heathens by the masses

just ask him

He'll release your demons

He took them lashes

And ripped the meat from his back to feed us

And he dropped knowledge to redeem we,

the disbelievers

It's hard to swallow and easy to leave

until tomorrow...

He's here to lead

But…

Mom and Step-Dad own pornography shops

I grew up in a household where my mom and step father owned pornoshops. I am now a practicing Catholic and have started a blog about my experiences and the evils of pornography from a Catholic perspective. http://porn-problem.blogspot.com/

Sex is obviously not evil but the exploitation factor, exhibition factor, and a whole host of other things makes pornography evil.

It is a cruel master but there is hope and it begins with prayer.

General vs Functional

There’s a lot of talk about functional training. In fact, this whole thing has been debated to death, and I’m about sick of hearing about it. However, I’ve never really put my own thoughts on paper so here goes.

In…

Why combat sports are good for you

Firstly, what is a combat sport? Sports that had their beginnings in

warrior traditions and whose techniques are now practiced in freeplay.

What we are talking about here are basically boxing, muay thai,

wrestling, judo, brazilian jiu jitsu, kyokushin karate and a few other exotic styles that

aren't as accessible. So martial arts then? No, not exactly. Martial

arts conjure up a whole lot of mystical hocus pocus concepts, a la the

Karate Kid that have no place in… Continue

Picking a new style

I never liked the books I could find on style for men. They always assumed that every man should dress like the one on the right. Which I would do on a job interview, but not to a friend's house, to a ball game, on a date (except my rehearsal dinner, but that's done now), or at almost any other time. How to look on an interview is worth knowing, but there's more to the question than that.

The best advice I knew was given verbally.

I.… Continue

Progress on the Series I instrument fascia.

The instrument fascia in my Series I was at one time brass plated by a previous owner. Although it looked quite nice for some time after it was done, in the 27 years that I have known this vehicle, the plating has bubbled and peeled, allowing elecrolytic corrosion to take place between the layers of dissimilar metals. I therefore decided to refresh the offending panel.

Here is what it looked like in the vehicle four months ago:…

CAN ONLY LAUGH AND ADMIRE OUR LEVEL OF “CIVIL” POLITICAL DISCOURSE

Recently, we in Kentucky saw an awesome display of un-civil discourse. It is obvious that Jack Conway and Rand Paul do not like each other. They do not run in the same political or social circles. They share no similar social or political views. This is good stuff for Kentucky and any other state that is a part of the “Tea Party” revolution.

Kentucky has been the center point of this because it looks like (according to recent polls) that Rand Paul is going to win. Now whether or… Continue

In the time it takes for seeds to become a stump

i'll perfect a method

for making generals out of grunts

and not only will i learn em to murder pillage and hunt

Bad Choices and Bad Reactions

So I have a friend who found out his baby sister is doing drugs. Mostly items I don't consider life threatening though overall damaging in the long term (like pot) from my own personal experiences with them.

He is absolutely freaked out by this. Unfortunately, his first call was to a mutual friend who has gone through her own cycle of drugs in her past but came out relatively unscathed.

She told him he was overreacting, which upset him greatly.

My advice to him was to… Continue

Skinny Strong

Fitness has a new face, and a new body. No longer is the hypertrophated bodybuilder considered the epitome of athletic

conditioning. Bloated muscle mass doesn't always translate into real fitness, and can sometimes even be a liability. John, a senior member my kettlebell gym in NY. I, as well as a seasoned trainer/exerciser and fitness expert in his own right, coined the term, Skinny-Strong (a phrase born… Continue

Manly Finds at your local Swap Meet.

Hello fellow gentlemen,

I just found this awesome vintage trunk at my local swap area. The compartmented top makes me think it is World War 2 Era military. Some damage has been sustained however, as the bottom is in need of repair and there is a bit of extra white paint on top. It was probably sitting in someone's garage for years before they finally decided to give it away. I fully plan to fix it up and make it good as new, and to take before and after…

First Entry

I've been thinking about keeping an account of observations for a while now. I feel it would be a good way to keep track of things such as the trees changing colors, migrations, and mostly my fishing and hunting adventures. I was thinking I would just write it down and make a Word document, but then I saw the "blog" feature on AoM and figured I'd put my entries on here also, so I could hear yall's feed-back. Like I said before, most of my entries will pertain to hunting and fishing, as I…

In-home workout

I've been performing weight-lifting routines for the past three and a half years, and would consider myself an adept weight-lifter. In anticipation for the cold weather and inevitable there's-no-way-in-hell-I'm-getting-out-of-bed-this-early mentality, I've designed a high-intensity in-home workout for myself and thought I'd share. All of these exercises can be performed with ordinary household objects. However, every guy should have a… Continue
