Reflections on Mark 4:26-41

We were reading in Mark 4 this morning the passages where Jesus tells various “seed parables.” Right after those parables, Jesus tells the disciples that they should go over to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. Several boats go with them and then the storm descends upon them.

In the first part, Jesus talks about seed being planted by…

It bothers me on some of the dress/fashion/hair posts...

Does anyone else notice that a lot of the "how to dress manly" posts seem to really show what a city boy would wear?

I'm not saying that it's wrong, but it's not "manly" to wear a $160 plaid shirt.  That's just plain dumb.

Being manly isn't the cost of your clothing, watch, shoes, etc...  It's how you wear it, and what you wear it for.  I'm a welder, I don't wear expensive clothes or make sure my hair is perfect every day (long hair and longer beard, wouldn't…

Giving up on relationships

I have tried to be the best boyfriend possible but it never works out. I am tired of meeting the same type (daddy's princess, recently divorced, etc.) Tired of being treated like shit no matter how much I do for the person. When I am told to be more of an a-hole, that does not work either.

Yes it would be great to be with someone but its become impossible to meet anyone decent. I have taken into consideration two factors- 1. the area I live and 2. my appearance (been told I am…

The Invisible Man

I've met many fine gentlemen on this site and in my little men’s group. One thing I get from them over and over again is how hard I am on myself. To support this I am told, time and time again what a great guy I am, so likable, so comfortable to be with. I've even been called “a man’s man” a few times. The last one, though well intentioned, actually hits a bruise. All these men I've met have not seen me in a real-life situation with other guys; all they know is my online presence or me in…

My New Lifestyle of Health and Simple Living

I am so happy and joyed about my new life! And I can honestly say that I am sticking with it! I have encountered the 90 day challenge through a group of friends, By doing this I have made awesome decisions with eating full meals and snacking. Now mind you, there is nothing wrong with "cheating" once a week. Just don't overdo it. I enjoy a man sandwich here and some sweet chili wings there. However, the focus is health and taking care of your temple! Obesity is the largest epidemic in the…

God is all compassion

…God is all compassion. God, three in one, is community in love. God is creator, who goes on making us and remaking us even when our hearts are broken and our lives shattered. He searches for every shard of who we once were and makes something new of all those pieces and his love…

Personal and Political Advice from Rome.

His Holiness, Pope Francis, has a warning sign posted outside his office door.It begins "VIETATO LAMENTARSI"In English, "WHINERS PROHIBITED."The sign ends with “To get the best out of yourself, concentrate on your potential and not on your limitations. Stop complaining and take steps to improve your life.” The same advice, in a far, far blunter form, is found in a book."Shut Up, Stop Whining, and Get A Life: A Kick Butt Approach to a Better Life."--Larry Winget, 2004See More
