The Wall

“Are you sure you want to leave Art of Manliness? This process may take a few minutes.”

I sat there looking at the dialog box before me, pointer about to hit the “OK” button.

What had brought me here?

My life has been very busy lately, between work, family and now my volunteering I’ve had little time for social networks. But was that the real reason I sat ready to zap my account?

No, as I knew deep down. Failure had brought me to this. Failure to relate,…

My first SE shave. Went well. ish

So I finally got some shaving blades for my Gem Junior, and got around to shaving today. I shot video of it, and would have completely finished if I had a bigger memory card, but I did get done with the razor part of the shave. Had to break it up into two videos because it took too long, but oh well.

Here is what I did before I started filming :

I took a shower and while i was in there, I scrubbed my beard with my axe shower tool, which I use all the time, with a bit of…

First Blog...

Have you ever wondered if the Blue I see is the same blue you see?  That maybe the blue you see is actually the red I see but we both know the color to be blue?

I wonder what gets people through their hard times. Is it just the motivation to get to a better place or trying to quickly remove them from embarrassment? More than likely it’s something else.

The last year was and still is very hard. I keep getting brought down, especially financially from things that…

So THAT'S the problem! HURR DERR DERP!

So, I said before I got a GEM 1912 as a gift from my mom. I also said it was an okay shave but not the best.

I was an idiot and didn't know it yet. In fact, I didn't know how wrong I was doing it until tonight, when I discovered that I was using the wrong blades.

Yeah, that's right, when I asked the person at Walmart (I know, I know) for single edge shaving razor blades and they came back with some, I should have read the pack before buying them, but I have apparently been…

Backyard Sugaring

I have never even read a blog before let alone written one so please go easy on me if I am doing this wrong.

Back yard sugaring is easy, fun, and rewarding (the end result is maple syrup). all you have to do is find a few maple trees in your backyard or your neighbors back yard with his permission. Drill some 7/16 hole about an inch and a half deep at a slight upward angle. lightly hammer the taps in to the holes being careful not to split the tree around the hole. Attach some empty…

Influential Men

Askmen.com has recently published the 49 Most Influential Men of 2011. Of the 49 31 were either actors or professional athletes. I'm sorry but why does being an actor or professional athlete making 10's of millions of dollars qualify one to be influential? I personally find it hard to believe that Simon Cowell, George Clooney,Matt Damon, Brad Cooper, Dirk Nowitski......... has influenced anyone, at least in my circle of male friends we all consider these guys tools not influence…

a tear for mustache

soon the day shall come when, because of cro. national theatre, i have to part with my beloved mustache :}( after a good pipe it kept smell for me for hours just so i could enjoy pipe smoking even longer, it kept my upper lip safe from cold winter and gave a good grip for my children's hands. so long... fare well... aufwiedersehen... goodbye...…

I heard about this but didn't believe it.

In all the posts I have seen about double edge safety razor shaving, the guys that do it regularly say they hardly ever get razor burn. I didn't believe it, but after a while of single edge safety razor shaving I no longer get razor burn. I am shocked! I had for a first razor, a disposable, then for a first 'real' razor a Gillette Sensor Excell. I basically was raised to expect razor burn. This is AWESOME!

Also, after seeing that article on the budget aftershaves from yesteryear, I…

testosterone is not the problem

In American society, men are seen as brutes. However, society would not exist if not for men. Men are still seen as hairy smelly barbaric thugs, while women are portrayed as innocent and fragile. This is a product of a PC culture.

It seems as if most are ignoring biology, chastising men for acting like...men.

The mainstream media portrays men as perpetually horny, only concerned with sports and sex. The commercials are something of a Michael Bay quality, making men out to be…

Black history month: Birth of the cool

It's February, the month where we celebrate the lives and times of  African-Americans that have changed the historical landscape. For the next four weeks, In the Key of He will recognize some of the greatest and most stylish black musicians of the modern era.

This week, we begin at the beginning: jazz.

Nat King Cole was a very stylish performer with a smooth, deep voice. He wrapped himself in suave style, wearing sleek, structured suits of the period, cuff links, and…
