I've been a lurker on AoM for awhile now. Really enjoy this site and find it to be quite useful! That being said my names Wade. I'm in Kansas and I work in the aircraft manufacturing industry. You were right that I can be crude (I would also accept blunt or rude or asshole. I'm actually nicer in person but I seem to have fewer polite filters online). You are also right that I made assumptions about your education, etc. But then again, I said that as well since this being the internet, assumptions are something we all make when reading the comments of others and making suggestions or offering advice. At least I am willing to share mine. But my comments were the comments of someone who took the time to read your post, think about it, and offer you my sincere advice. In real life (ie not the internet), if this happens in future to you I would suggest you smile, thank the person, and then wait until you go home before calling them a douchebag to your wife. But whatever.

I never read the link you gave. Mainly because I don't care what you make nor do I think it was central to the point I was making. My point is you are not acting up to the role you have as a husband or as a man. Your wife knows it (hence she follows her mother over you and doesn't want sex), you in-laws know it (hence they make decisions about your family without consulting you) and deep down you know it (hence the emasculating feelings and sense of powerlessness you have in your own home. Upset about heartburn meds? Should that really be something to upset you?). Also, all the books and talks in the world will not change this. Neither will moving out since the problems with your house is just a result of your problem and not the problem itself. The problem is you. Fix that and the rest will follow (and if not perfectly, at least you will be able to deal with it better).

But anyway. I'm spending too much time on this and am probably just wasting my time. So delete this, send me a hate message, or whatever. I actually don't care. Life is too short to waste worrying about people you will never meet, especially when there are others who need you. Why I bothered in the first place is bit of mystery to me too. I think your situation just reminded me of a past one of mine. But whatever. I'd say good luck, but that usually just sounds condescending online so I'll just say good bye.
