Rémy Vanschoonwinkel replied to Saxon's discussion Partial beards in the group Men with Beards
"When I turned 16 I decided to let myself grow a soul patch combined with a goatee. I loved how it made me older. Back then ordering a drink never required showing my ID, but when I was clean cut, suddenly they asked. :p Aah well now I'm a…"

Saxon commented on J Roman's group Higher Education
"The current status is that a PhD might make it harder for you to find a job. The son of a distinguished researcher in Canada that I know had a PhD, got no jobs with his PhD ... but when he disguised it as "research project", and only…"

Saxon commented on J Roman's group Higher Education
"A PhD is a *lot* of work, but it is also a very interesting project. Weigh it against other things in your life. If you have a wife ... well, make sure you have a wife when you finish your PhD; they tend to wear down marriages."

The Earl of Essex replied to Saxon's discussion Savile Row and bespoke suits in the group Men's Fashion
"I would say, that a true tailor should be able to size from the second they lay eyes on you.  Without any imput from you, they should know what to do to make you look good. I have moved from London where I used to frequent places like Saville…"

Paul O Brien replied to Saxon's discussion Synthetic or badger: best ... manliest? in the group Wet Shaving (No Spam!)
"Well, been using my Omega silvertip for a few weeks now. Its miles better than my synthetic! It lathers better, smells good because it retains the scent from my soaps and feels good on the face!"

Al Smithee replied to Saxon's discussion Partial beards in the group Men with Beards
"From what I gather, women tend not to like them, so you're probably not missing anything by skipping on the soul patch."

Saxon replied to Jacob Thomas's discussion Online Bespoke Tailors ?
"I have now spoken with Robert Bailey of Davies and Sons. A pleasant experience, and I will go with their bespoke service. They are, it seems, visiting Oslo next year, thus saving me a trip to London."

Al Smithee replied to Saxon's discussion Partial beards in the group Men with Beards
"A soul patch is the hair under the bottom lip. Lots of jazz musicians wore them during the height of bebop. Here's a picture of Dizzy Gillespie sporting one: Tom Waits and Frank Zappa have worn them ... unfortunately, so have a lot of hipsters."

Saxon commented on Andrew's group Men with Beards
"How do light beards make us look, Ryan? I have a lighter beard, styled so that my cheeks and neck are shaven but the sideburns are on and the beard is one whole thing."

Saxon commented on Andrew's group Men with Beards
"My barber recommended Oster 97 (European model of Oster 76, differing only in input voltage)  for beard trimming. Excellent, heavy machine with a manly feel, look and sound. Strong, everlasting  engine."

Doug Reynolds replied to Saxon's discussion Partial beards in the group Men with Beards
"Rick, this group is apparently pretty candid. I thought that was only esoteric info. I guess however guys are pretty much the same."
