I won't get into too much detail right now, as there are still unknowns and I don't want to speculate the outcomes, but there is a lot going on in life right now.I get it, life happens. These are…Continue

Quick Life Update

My last post was quite awhile ago, but I wanted to give a quick update on that. My mom was indeed diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. She's been fighting it for awhile and is kicking it's ass! All signs are pointing towards her fully beating it so far. If you're one that prays, say a quick prayer and send positive vibes her way. My wife's cysts on her ovaries are non-cancerous and will not affect the baby! Great news. We over-worried because of the baby and the possible outcomes--I definitely…See More

"A thought, albeit cynical.  When it comes to work relationships, unless you're socializing with your co-workers on the weekends and holidays, they're co-workers, not friends.  And the only co-workers whose time, attention, and…"

Native Son replied to Shawn's discussion Work Relationships in the group Christian Men
"A simple thought, not from a Biblical or Ecclesiastic source.  To paraphrase Miss Manners, "Those folks aren't your friends, they're your co-workers." Too many people don't know or can't tell the difference."

Books
Great books I've read and recommend reading:
The Bible, The Dream Giver, The Resolution for Men, The Greatest Miracle in the World, How to Win Friends and Influence People, the list could continue...

Books I plan to read this year:
The Great Gatsby and Wild at Heart

I'd love more suggestions on books that are good for the manly soul.
Movies
Although I studied Media Arts and Science, shot home videos as a young boy, and recreationally shoot wedding videography, the list of great movies I've watched is very short (and almost embarrassing). Instead of listing that short list, here is what I WILL finally watch this year:
Shawshank Redemption,
Goodfellas,
The Godfather,
Office Space
Music
My music taste ranges very widely from Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, and Michael Bublé, to Christian Rap -- LeCrae and Andy Mineo.

I choose music to fit my day. If I'm going fishing with my son, I'll listen to country. If I'm relaxing and drinking a glass of wine with my wife, I'll put on something classical. If I'm about to work or workout, that's when I put on Christian Rap--the bass gets me motivated without listening to the garbage that's on the radio.
