Good Afternoon

Nice to meet all of you. I am a native Southerner (although if you ask my family we'll say we're German) moving to Colorado to begin my Master's degree. My educational background is in psychology, and I may or may not decide to pursue a career in counseling or education. I am an avid fan of video games, horror movies, and anything to do with fictional end-of-the-world scenarios. I also enjoy tabletop roleplaying games. For various reasons my path in life has meandered quite a bit. I hope that by…See More

Interests
My big projects right now are learning to play the guitar, teaching myself German and Japanese, and writing a novella. I would like to start getting into better shape and learning some survival skills.
Books
The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, Geek Love by Katherine Dunn, and Watership Down by Richard Adams are my all time favorites. There are far too many others that I enjoy to list.
Movies
I enjoy horror movies quite a bit. It's crass, but my favorites are probably The Devil's Rejects and House of 1,000 Corpses. The Poughkeepsie Tapes is also excellent.
Music
Right now I'm listening to a lot of My Chemical Romance. My younger sister is a big fan of theirs and I've begun to develop a taste for them. I also enjoy The Moody Blues, Gin Blossoms, and Jimmy Buffet.

"Very cool. Outside of Hawaii, it's hard to find legit Hawaiian / Polynesian martial arts schools. Up here (Canada), the closest we'll get is Kajukenbo and even those schools are few and far between. "

Regular Joe replied to Joshua's discussion Any advice for selling a collection?
"Selling it as a lot is more convenient but less profitable. Selling it piece by piece usually results in more money overall but is extremely time-consuming.  Regarding the idea of consulting an auction house, I'd say your first step would…"

Any advice for selling a collection?

I accrued a collection of Star Wars memorabilia and knick knacks during my childhood and teenage years. It's not really cataloged, and is only taking up space in boxes in a garage right now. I'm considering selling it but have never sold anything sizable like this before (probably in the neighborhood of 350 various pieces – action figures to art prints).Anyone sold a collection before that can offer some advice? Should I try to sell it all at once, and if that's the case would I take it to an…See More

Teachers' Club (for men in Education)

Virtual staff room for visionary teachers of every discipline. This is a good place for educators to discuss their collective role in society--particularly in regards to their duty as role models for young men. What does it mean to be a male role model for young boys in the classroom? How can we serve them best? See More
