Hi, guys! I was just wondering, does anyone here do any proprioception exercises? They've done wonders for my balance and control and they're fun to do at home as well!
Hey Man,
Cool home gym. Looks like you train for functional fitness. That's all I do. I used kettlebells for a long time, but I have refined my workout to an 85lb weighted vest (bodyweight calisthenics, pull ups, etc.), a jump rope, and a heavy iro…
Andrew, you should check out some books at the bookstore (or amazon.com) I'd recommend Built for Show, by Nate Green. He's a young, but highly experienced trainer who wrote a great book on getting started in the gym and looking great. You can find h…
I've been training at home for years. I have a pretty well equiped gym: power rack, barbell/weights, flat becnch, pulldown, s few sets of DB's, glute ham, heavy bag/gloves, and a few more toys. I used to compete in powerlifting until 2005. My traini…
I think a lot of you guys are making this more complicated than it needs to be.
I'm 42 and I'm not huge, but I've added over 30lbs of muscle over the last few years, all while getting leaner. I'm not saying it was easy, or even a straight shot, but…
If you can workout outside, a sandbag can be a great tool. The most expensive part is the duffel bag. I got one for $15 at a surplus store. The bags of sand were like $4-5 for 100lbs worth at Home Depot. You need contractor cleanup bags and duct tap…
I agree on the importance of mastering the movements. I'm an IKFF KB Instructor, and someday I'd like to compete in the Girevoy Sport events, and they can be brutal. Events that are 10 minutes of snatches or 10 minutes of double kb clean and jerks?…
Sugary marinades, yes. But, if it's oil or vinegar based, then no.
Sometimes a little char is good, but some spices, like garlic for instance, get bitter when charred.
Good point on the heat, but also the time is important. A rub on a steak or chi…
I prefer marinades for grilling, since direct heat can burn the spices. If it's going to be for indirect heat, even on a grill, then rubs are good.
I tilt toward Mexican usually, so take that for what it is.

I have a large workshop attached to the house and I have made half of it into a gym. I have a bow flex out there (I'm not very fond of it and intend to replace it with weight stack machine). I have a rack of dumbbells, medicine ball, standing bag, s…
Cumin is my #1. Dried chili, mexican oregano, coriander, chocolate, and cinnamon are all biggies for savory dishes.
For desserts, I like ginger, vanilla, and cardamom a lot.
For those of you who might want more plan and progression in your bodyweight workouts, I'd suggest these products. I'm not affiliated with either, I just think they are good products, and I like the guys behind each product, too.

Another nice thing is the time saved. On friday, I was really trying to head to the gym, but things kept coming up. Even though the gym is 10 minutes away, that's 10 there, 10 back, locker room, waiting for equipment, etc. A 30-45 minute workout in…
