The same thing happens to me watching the Lord of the Rings movies. (The books were good, but didn't impact me like the movies did.) There's a lot of allegory in them too, I am sure part of it is because Lewis and Tolkien were friends (and I beli...

I am very interested to hear about what Anabaptist theology is. I am simply asking because I am not familiar with it. Would you mind hitting the high points for me just so I am familiar? (Perhaps a personal message might be best, to avoid the hija...

Another thought- I think that we as humans are built to understand stories. I just commented on the recent blog post about Fiddler on the Roof. Movies and stories are one of God's favorite ways to speak to me, I think, and the more I think about ...

I also read those books when I was young. Getting the box set of all 7 for my (10th?) birthday was a big deal. I have read them once again in my adult life, and the amazing thing is, as a kid I missed a lot. Things like you have mentioned here ar...

Fiddler is one of my very favorite musicals. I am glad you enjoyed it! I think that is the thing about good stories and songs- we can identify with them and they are meaningful to us. It's why they become classics.

I took 5 years of German in school, and was able to pass a test to get out of taking it in college. I'm pretty proficient in day to day conversation actually, and can carry a conversation. It's especially fun when watching war movies and you can e...

A Brief Guide to Scale Airplane Modeling

Scale modeling is a very manly (and fun) hobby that cultivates attention to detail, commitment to the end of a project, and a host of other manly virtues.
