Walking sticks/ canes

I am looking for a hobby that I can get into and recently went to an English country fair. I saw many nice walking sticks and canes for sale and thought to myself - I could do that. Trouble is I need a hand finding information on how to turn raw wood into beautifully straight, finished canes.Anybody able to point me in the right direction with websites or books on how to get started.Anybody out there use walking sticks?See More

"PRC? Publishing Resource Consortium, Piracy Reporting Centre? Britain is much closer to Germany than the Falklands are to Argentina. Does it give them the right to invade? Twice?"

I am a Liverpool native but I have been lucky enough to live in Barcelona, Lyon and Sheffield (all as a student) and Queensland, Australia.

Now a homeowner and proud father in Liverpool again :)

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
