Hi, I work outside in the field. I wear boots because it's what I think of as work wear, but they aren't very comfortable after long hours and when I go hiking I wear sneakers, which got me to…Continue

"Definitely:  talk to a doc.  You need not be like everyone else as you imagine them, but there's no need to live with distress, or something that interferes with a full life."

Growing into your quirks or I got weird.

I am a weird person and my surroundings just don't seem to accept that. I was always pretty much weird, my culture references were always a decade behind. I was a 90s baby obsessed with Star Wars before the prequels. The other kids thought it was a thing I made up. I grew into myself rather well and the weirdness was a moot point for awhile since I was more successful at most social interactions than others.I have gotten to a point where my quirks make it difficult to go a long with society. "You know it bro, also the Bates 922s are super light weight and flexible, but not as protective I think"

"Actually these days combat boots are getting pretty decent; Vibram has made some gear that, although I was originally issued for work, I now where out and about. Probably not the most fashionable choice, but they are multifunctional. "

Chet Hand replied to Nick Henderson's discussion Why are boots the work footwear? What are some classic quality brands?
"It really depends on what kind of boots you like to wear.  Remember that leather boots rarely feel fantastic right out of the box, they usually have to be worked in over the course of a week or two of hard wearing.  Then they form around…"

"If you have actual work to do, and need to protect your feet while still maintaining some modicum of comfort, Red Wing is the go-to boot. Lightweight day hikers may be more comfortable most of the time, but when something heavy lands on your foot,…"

"i really like rigger boots too. but a lot of sites specifically ban them which sucks. I mostly just wear mine to drive to work and when it snows. "

"I spend about 14 hours a day in a pair of Georgia Giants, but boots may not be your thing. If you wear shoes for hiking, Merrell makes work shoes with hard toes."

"Excuse the cut and paste, but it gave a good bit of info for the boot. I wore these for many a mile, and they kept my feet protected and dry. Incredibly light weight considering the construction. American-made Danner Elite Series Fort Lewis Boots. A…"

Chuck Knight replied to Nick Henderson's discussion Why are boots the work footwear? What are some classic quality brands?
"Why? What is it that you do that would preclude the wearing of a well built steel toed boot that was actually attractive when new?    Is ugly a requirement?   I judge boots on their quality of construction, fit, and utility.  The…"

"You can get comfortable boots with toe caps just make sure that they are wide enough and water thick socks. You are better off getting them from a shop and trying them on rather than buying online. Also like any shoe they will get more comfortable…"
