Mike Conley replied to George Dorn's discussion What do you say when someone asks how much money you make?
"When it comes to awkward social things like this, I first go for a polite change of topic and then jump to a rude and purposefully awkward blunt response if they don't get the hint. "So how much are you making these days?" "Not…"

Dan N replied to Mike Conley's discussion On White Privilege in the group The Great Debate
"That's an awful lot of assumptions to draw from my comments. While I don't feel the need to divulge my personal history (although I will tell you that you are way off base), I can present one example of white privilege that I have seen:…"

Interests
My favorite subjects are politics, religion, philosophy, and science. If I'm ever just pacing about and musing on some topic, it's very likely one of these. It's very important to me to seek the truth. That's also why I like being proven wrong. It's embarrassing, but it means I'm closer to knowing what's right.
Books
I don't at all read as much as I'd like to. I don't really feel like I have the time. That said, the Harry Potter series is my favorite entertaining read. Some of my favorite nonfiction: The Language Police: How Pressure Groups Restrict What Students Learn by Diane Ravitch; Self-Made Man: One Woman's Journey into Manhood and Back by Norah Vincent; Godless: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America's Leading Atheists by Dan Barker
Movies
My favorite film is Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, followed by Let the Right One In. Some other favorites include God on Trial, Garden State, Underworld, The Aristocrats, Jesus Camp, Juno, Saved, The Matrix, Shaun Of the Dead, Across the Universe, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, HBO's John Adams, My Best Friend Is a Vampire, The People Speak, Zombieland
Music
I usually listen to Metal/Rock (death metal is love), but I also like Country; Dance/Techno; & Rap/Hip-Hop (old hip hop - today's popular rap is unbelievably awful shit). I also like Classical, and I love Jazz & the Blues. Jazz or Blues will fix any bad day. Oh, and Gregorian chants. (Middle Ages is where it's at, yo!)

Some of my favorites just off the top of my head: A Fine Frenzy, Lamb of God, John Coltrane, BB King, Behemoth, Anna Nalick, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Exodus, Arch Enemy, Tchaikovsky, Little Big Town, Dimmu Borgir, Gregorian chant, Kid Cudi, Lady Gaga, The Dagger Rebellion, Epica, Bill Withers, Eric Church, AC/DC, Dr Dre, Flogging Molly, Trivium, Duke Ellington
Quote
You will never regret anything you've done more than you will regret the things you did not do when you had the chance because you were afraid to take a risk.
