Peter McCann replied to Matt Tantillo's discussion Beginner's wine advice in the group Oenophile

Matt Tantillo replied to Stein's discussion When is it Appropriate To Not Shake a Man's hand.?
"I broadly define shaking hands as a sign of respect/trust/cooperation/professionalism. You do it when you want to make someone see you are open to them and confident in yourself. It's a first-impression mechanism. I can obviously see you want…"

Matt Tantillo replied to Rick Shelton's discussion What does a man need or require to be satisfied with his life?

"Yeah, I get caught on that a lot.  The disclaimer was to say that even though I made a bunch of assertions, they could all be 100% wrong since I've never picked a woman's brain about relationships."

Matt Tantillo replied to Joshua Martinez-Onstott's discussion History Repeats? I am young and do not quite understand.
"You'd be better off asking this question to some of your female friends, as men can never really tell you what a woman thinks/wants. As a young man also on the lookout for what could be a long-term relationship, here's what I can tell you…"

Marine Career

Hello everyone.I'm in the middle of my college career, studying for a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and this last semester I've really tried to pin down what I want to do after graduation.  One field that has consistently popped up is the marine industry. I'd really like to find a career near the water where I can work on the design, manufacture, and maintenance of watercraft (preferably sailing yachts). There are two big hurdles in my way, though. 1) I am from Kansas and only really became…See More

Matt Tantillo replied to Steven Carpenter's discussion Ratios of reading to writing
"Same as the above said, it's a pretty variable number. If you're doing an analysis on some article another person wrote, you probably won't have to read much beyond the article in question before you can write about it. On the other…"

Matt Tantillo replied to RM's discussion Any ideas of jobs/opportunities to travel (with US or abroad) and meet and interact with a lot of people from different backgrounds
"Peace corp, red cross, reporter, salesman, flight attendant, researcher... Even if it's not the Navy, becoming a seaman of any sorts will let you travel and meet people. Particularly if you go into the sailing world as opposed to powered, you…"

Matt Tantillo replied to LShieldes's discussion My flawed self in the group The Great Debate

Matt Tantillo replied to LShieldes's discussion My flawed self in the group The Great Debate

Matt Tantillo replied to LShieldes's discussion My flawed self in the group The Great Debate
"I've never really liked telling people/being told we are unworthy of God's love. God created us with love so we could love him, and we betrayed his love with sin, so it is true. But to me that's focusing on the problem rather than the…"

Matt Tantillo replied to LShieldes's discussion My flawed self in the group The Great Debate
"Jesus' sacrifice didn't give everyone a free pass from sin and thus an excuse to do whatever we feel like on Earth. Pre-Christ, the Jews were God's chosen people, but were still separated from Him by sin (including after death). Jesus…"

Matt Tantillo replied to LShieldes's discussion My flawed self in the group The Great Debate
"I see your parallel between my argument vs. yours.  Yes, Jesus is part of God, and therefore without sin. At the same time, Jesus was human, and therefore capable of sin. It seems contradictory, but my best answer is that Jesus embodied God on…"

Matt Tantillo replied to LShieldes's discussion My flawed self in the group The Great Debate
"You hit it on the head, Ken. Jesus had free will and was tempted just like the rest of us. His ability to hold true to God's love and will was an example for all of us to follow, if we so choose.  Yes, it is human nature to consider sin,…"

Matt Tantillo replied to LShieldes's discussion My flawed self in the group The Great Debate
