"Well when I worked in Machining I used a pocket watch as my daily work watch because a wrist watch was too likely to get snagged in machinery.  I still have all my fingers. "

"And you'd be surprised at what you can pull off with a cheap watch. A guy wearing a 2000$ watch stopped me at a restaurant to compliment my 50$ Casio with a 50$ leather band. He wanted to know where I got it because he liked it so much!"

"LOL! There are a lot of people who think that anything sub-Rolex-grade is cheap, so spending 2 hours worth of wages on a watch (even if you make 300K/year) could still be considered cheap by many. Hell, people who wear Pateks think Rolexes are…"

My "office" watch died recently, and I'm looking around for a replacement.  What I noticed was a large number of "standard" watches, a few Casio G-shocks, and a few obviously expensive mechanical chronographs.  The "standard" watch is an analogue watch, with a date window, a black or blue dial, stainless steel case, and stainless steel bracelet or expansion band. There's a tremendous range of "sane budget" watches in this configurationVery cheap: Casio EF106D-2AV Edifice with a 10 year…See More
