Earl Foote replied to Kyle Aldridge's discussion Whoever controls the media... controls the culture. in the group Christian Men
"This is a good question.  I think that I would look at my own behavior.  Am I presenting a human being that people would want to imitate?  I believe that St. Francis said, "Always preach the Gospel.  When absolutely…"

Whoever controls the media... controls the culture.

"Whoever controls the media, the images, controls the culture."- Allen GinsbergThose of us over 30 have probably had at least a few moments in recent years when we've taken close, hard looks at society and wonder, "What happened to us?"  The changes come slowly, patiently, and unrelentingly, but they are always coming.“If by any chance a playwright wishes to express a political opinion or a moral opinion or a philosophy, he must be a good enough craftsman to do it with so much spice of…See More

Card-sized abacus

Some of the guys I sail with enjoy a good game of cards from time to time, and I thought it would be handy to build a miniature abacus with the same dimensions as the cards for keeping score.  Beats pen and paper!Yet to be completed:- Installing an internal wall to separate unit counters- Installing the 1/16" stainless steel rod…See More

Kyle Aldridge replied to John Bravo's discussion I held out sex for love first....Why is it so hard to find a girl who's done the same?
"My first post from a smartphone (useful at times, but obscenely overpriced) so apologies in advance if there's something off about the post, but... You ask "why" a lot, and I think that's an excellent question to ask. The answer…"

James Jolly replied to Kyle Aldridge's discussion DIY rip fence? in the group Woodworking
"On the one I have, the jaws are about 1/2". It's not much, but as I said, a couple of clamps helps a lot to take up the slack from the rubber grip pads."

"That could work!  How deep are the jaws?  The description just says the unit is 5.7cm deep, but obviously some of that has to go to the bar."

James Jolly replied to Kyle Aldridge's discussion DIY rip fence? in the group Woodworking
"I would recommend getting something like this: Clamp Edge guide. I ended up using this instead of the fence that came with my first table saw, as I could square this much easier to the blade than the cheap fence. I also found that if i'm…"

DIY rip fence?

As my wife and I unpacked our boxes, we noticed that a few boxes apparently didn't make it off the moving truck - and they don't know what happened to them. One of the items lost was the rip fence to my Ryobi 10" table saw.  I've built a crosscut sled for it now, at least, with the help of a scrap of plywood and some clamps (and some calipers to make sure I was parallel with the blade, of course) but I'm still left without a rip fence.  I've looked at some ideas on the internet, but my table saw…See More

"Cabela's wanted 35$ for a 50 round box of 230 grain .45 JHP... I remember paying 10-15$ for that stuff back in the day. I've got a few reloading supplies, but I don't have a complete setup.  Seeing that, which I didn't…"

Kyle Aldridge replied to Robert D's discussion Pistol for a newbie
"So target shooting and home defense? 1. Do you live in an apartment/condo/duplex or a house?  And does anyone live in the dwelling with you? A heavy FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) .45 or even 9mm will go through the sheetrock very easily if it…"

"I know nothing of the military, but i've led various research projects and assignments at uni; make sure you get to know the people, and be friendly to them. Admiration goes a lot further than fear."
