Couple friends coming over. Wife does turkey, couple sides, they bring a French Silk pie (dear GOD, but they're good) and perhaps a fruit tart from Fresh Market (even BETTER), and then some amaretto sours or limoncello to finish it off.

In all honesty, people are called conspiracy theorists for believing the very real plausibility that a government will lie to it's people to get support for a war. However, we have a good amount of historic evidence that it has happened over and o...

Topher, have you ever read information regarding the Saddam's decision to move away from the dollar as the accepted means of purchasing oil since WWII? He chose to go to the Euro. Then several others started to follow suit and the OPEC was also co...

I respect the viewpoint but would require solid evidence to support it other than that which is circumstancial or just inuendo.

I don't know if I can count "I'm giving you a really nasty thing I've outlawed so you can use it on someone I like even less than you" as "good intentions." Sometimes, the road to hell has road signs.

No, we precipitated a preemptive strike against an idiot who led every intelligence organization on earth to believe he possessed weapons of mass destruction and was so obviously unstable that it was a distinct possibility that he might turn some ...

As you say, it will be debated. I and many others have come to understand that we knew there were no WMDs, and so we had to deliberately, maliciously, with malice and aforethought, in violation of everything even remotely decent, and with full kn...

But if they didn't have weapons of mass destruction how were they to turn them over? I realize Saddam refused entry and open exploration of facilities to verify this but let's face it. He wasn't the most rational (but neither are we sometimes) so...

The issue was weapons of mass destruction which Saddam led the entire world to believe he possessed ... not oil as the libs are still spinning it to this day. On that basis alone he was deemed an imminent threat to the region and to the security o...

Who were we to draw lines in the sand? Who appointed us World Sherrrif? When Saddam invaded Kuwait, we had an obligation to respond because we had a mutual defense treaty in place in Kuwait. Gulf 2 was done with no such justification. Was Saddam...

Interests
Politics, Business, staying fit as I get older (not an easy thing), Martial Arts, blogging, and learning to be a man in this crazy world. There's so much involved in that last one, that one could spend a lifetime and still be trying.
Books
"There Will Be Dragons" - John Ringo
"Deshi" - John Donohoe
"The Wheel of Time" series by Robert Jordan
"Angels and Demons" - Dan Brown
Movies
"Dark Knight" - For obvious reasons, I hope. There's no happy ending, and many were upset. This movie shows that the struggle between good and evil is by no means as simple as some may think. So much goes on behind the scenes...
"Iron Man" - This is a powerful tribute to the idea of one man making a difference. Thank you, Marvel Studios and Stan Lee
"The Incredible Hulk" - The scene outside the city, after he destroyed the helicopter is the most eloquent portrayal of the difference between men and women that I've seen to date.
"The Last Samurai" - Simply for the quote "Honor lives in the hearts of those willing to fight and die for it." Not in the movie, but one of the trailers.
Music
Sugarland - Jennifer Nettles knows what it means to be American, and every single song she sings portrays this, whether she realizes or not.

Jason Mraz - The happy Eminem.

Meatlof - Got me through bad times growing up. It's nice to know someone else feels as strongly as you do, sometimes.

Lady Gaga - Something about her makes me think of DeNiro's wife in the movie "Casino". While a married man has no need of them, every bachelor out there requires a beautiful, classy companion on his arm for social engagements. She's it.
Quote
"Any sentient being has the right to freedom, but with that right comes the responsibility to use it correctly, to not impinge on others freedom, and to ensure that one's own freedom is everlasting."

"To be born free is an accident. To live free is a privilege. To die free is a responsibility."

Power Inverter & Installation

Gents,

My father has helped me out with installing a Power Inverter in my truck. This is one that he's had for a while, and it only produces a modified sine wave (early technology from at least 7-8 years ago), but it's a 3000 watt BEAST.

First, he built a custom box for it, two cooling fans on each side to promote airflow through the box and over the inverter. He's made attempts to ground it a little better than it is, but has only had limited luck with that. I've tucked it in behind my passen… Continue

Family Historian, Part 1

With the recent passing of my Grandmother, I have inherited many things that I need to be preserving in the role I've taken as family historian. This series of posts will be my attempt to chronicle what I'm doing, how I feel, and what if means to me.

Shadow Box containing my Grandfather's various medals:

Healthcare...should it be a for profit venture?

Healthcare should not be a For-Profit Venture

“Am I my brother’s keeper?” is the question that Cain asked before he was cast out for killing his brother Abel over a petty argument. I hear an argument very much akin to this question in the debate of Healthcare Reform today when it is suggested that the government be involved in providing healthcare for American citizens. Currently, America has the most expensive healthcare system in the world, and does not offer a level of quality that would jus… Continue

Vacation/Road Trip Preparatory Checklist

I'm writing this because our trip to Carowinds yesterday proved to be quite the experience, and while I'm the kind of guy who gets off on making it through a crisis unscathed, I'm sure that if I'd been able to handle this without the stress to my wife and the boys, it would have been nicer for all involved, and I wouldn't want to see it happen to someone else.

1- Never separate into more parties than you have cell phones or other forms of communication. Each party should have a designated "comm… Continue

Carpet Maintenance

Ok, here's the deal, gents. I was reading through the forum post where the guy was asking for help decorating his place in a manly fashion, and one of you made the following comment:

"Depending on how committed you are, you might want to replace the carpet with wooden flooring. Personally, I love wood floors, because they look better and they're a hell of a lot easier to keep clean. Carpets are a pain in the ass to clean, and no matter how much you vacuum, they store dust, pollen, mold, etc.Continue

I love Meatloaf too. I got to meet him at a charity dinner on my 31st birthday! The man is a legend. Half the genius behind him is Jim Steinman, and I love all of his work as well. Have you followed Steinman by any chance?

Hey I saw your comment in the hat forum. I bet a flat cap or fedora would be a good choice for you to wear. Although if I were you I would not wear a real small style fedora. By the way I recieved an email once about that April 15 tea party. Do you know much about it? Is this a serious legit thing? I am an Obama supporter and voter, and this truly a horrible thought.
