I've never read the Julius Africanus one. Crazy. The first Josephus one is usually discredited to be plagiarized, though. What about Pliny the Younger? Although, it is worth noting that Chris asked for non-historical documents.

I love my 527s. I get them 32/34. If they had 32/33's that would be AMAZING.

I loved this psalm. Lord save me. You are so great. I'm not worthy. Still, save me. Seems like the story of my life.

I Saw the Foo Fighters Last Night

My neighbor (Liz) has a friend (Jake) who works for VH1 and a month ago he mentioned that VH1 would be doing a Storytellers concert with the Foo Fighters. They are my favorite band of all time, so I NEEDED to be there. Well, I didn't hear anything about it, but found out Liz was going to a party with Jake so I told her to remind him that I wanted to go to the concert. She texts me and asks if I'm free to go to the concert on Wednesday. I say that I am and she tells me that Jake got me a ticket.… Continue

Mission to India Post 2 (10/5/09)

This is the second in a series of posts I will keep doing. The first post is here.

So I have been to 3 India meetings and I wanted to update you guys with what's been going on here.

For the first meeting, I walked into the meeting not knowing anyone except my friend who was going with me, but she was late. So I just chose a seat and sat down. A few moments later, a guy, Travis, sits down and we… Continue

Mission to India

During the 30 Days to Manliness Challenge, one of the challenges was to do a Bucket List. I wrote up my list. On it I wrote that I wanted to go on a mission to another continent. Writing up the list got me thinking about doing missions, but not really about when. The thought was more for a few years from now....

One day in church, I was sitting next to a girl I was dating (or trying t… Continue

Royal Family Kids Camp: Derrius and the Purple Wristband

This is a part of a series of blogs used to narrate my experience at Royal Family Kids Camp. It is described here

At camp this year, there was a new achievement that the kids could get. If you could swim across the pool, underwater, in one breath, you would be able to get a purple wristband. As a decent swimmer, I got mine in my first try in efforts to get other people to try for them.… Continue

Royal Family Kids Camp

So I spent last week at a summer camp for abused and neglected children (I described it here). It was called the Royal Family Kids Camp. We take kids out of foster homes and orphanages and give them a week where they can just have fun and be kids. They are spoiled for a week. This is a week where they can be safe, loved, and have a break from their normal lives (which are filled with injustice).… Continue

I will keep you posted kind sir, it's a great company to work for, the bennies take care of my family and the job market is still pretty bad here in Michigan. The schedules with us being 24/7 just grind on the family life for sure.

UCI is a great school. What were did you study in your undergrad and grad? I didn't know there was a Campus Alpha course. That's interesting.

Say Hey John, nope no updates from HR yet. I have a feeling that I would be a budget buster for that department if they were to bring me on with my rate of pay. I will keep my fingers crossed and continue to look for other opportunities within the company. Thanks for thinking of me brother. :)

I thought about going to Fuller. They have a good amount of Anabaptist faculty. Vanguard and Biola are both universities and not seminaries. Although I did consider attending Biola for my undergrad degree I never considered Vanguard. It is an Assemblies of God school I am just not a pentecostal.

So are you in school down there?

Our youngest is getting married November 28th. We've been preparing for it almost continuously for 3 months now, and there will still be some last minute stuff. (and of course it is costing an arm and leg, and we have no money). So, there is still some stress in my life. How are you these days?

It was a failed attempt to be ironic: I'm bad? OK, here's a picture to match. Next week: Marilyn Manson.

Hi John, thanks for asking. Carol and I are traveling back to Las Cruces today for her to receive a 2nd round of intrarvenous therapy. She's doing better and feeling better. Her treatments will be ongoing through December. Thanks for the prayers.

Hey John,
Life is good — a motley collection of homework and various tasks. I've met a few ladies, but none to my standards. I think I'll be cooling my jets and settling into a more passive detection mode for a while. With that said, I'm really happy to hear that you've been making good progress. Disneyland sounds awesome, John! Good job getting her number and charming her enough to get a dinner. How did the dinner go? Fill me in, man!
