Mother's Day Gift Dilemmas

Got any interesting ideas for Mother's Day gifts? I could use a few. I'm getting stale with my approach to Mother Day gifts. I've list a few of my thoughts below.Chocolates.  Give her a fancy box of chocolates or a syringe full of endorphins – they both produce the same response.  Chocolates are powerful.  The last time my wife unwrapped a box of chocolates, the lights in our bedroom automatically softened, which is odd since we never installed dimmer switches.  Be careful when you’re making an…See More

"Wait Upon My Shoulders": Tolerating Spousal Lateness

Have you ever experienced this? "I stared at my watch again, only 30 seconds after my last check. I thought glaring at my timepiece would telepathically move her towards the house door. Next I tried several other tactics, all of which failed miserably just like past attempts; nonetheless, I felt better failing again rather than not even trying. Sometimes, it’s all about preserving some dignity, even in small amounts."Most of us have deployed techniques that, quite frankly, we know are useless.…See More

Vacation Planning: "Are We There Yet?"

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 4:29pm 0 Comments

The 1,000-foot climb to Yosemite’s Vernal Falls had been spectacular. My wife and I now started hiking back down the cliff, a much more relaxing direction then the steep trek up the slippery, rocky trail. We both wore wool socks and sturdy hiking shoes nicely broken-in from previous excursions among the Sequoias and…

Is this negligence?

I've been working in a department store (Belk) inside of a mall for almost three years now. I've never had any security problems and I've always felt safe up until last Friday. I departed from school around 2:20 and I arrived at work at 2:40pm for my 3 o'clock shift. Belk employees have to park on the third floor of the parking deck which I've been doing. On this particular day, the deck was a bit fuller than usual due to the Easter weekend so I parked in the very back of the deck against the…See More
