Although the question came into my life with regards to a personal relationship, I'm wondering about this in a more universal way. What I'm referring to is the notion of courtship. In my mind, that…Continue

I, like a lot of you here at AoM, have been inspired to try shaving according to some older methods. Though I haven't made up my mind, I'm leaning heavily towards a safety razor over the straight. In…Continue

Burt's Bees

Hello Gentlemen-Through a recent sale via my insurance plan, I was able to get a number of "Organic" grooming products for free. Among the items I picked out was a Burt's Bees "Skincare for Men" travel kit. There were both shaving cream and aftershave included inside of the kit.Does anyone have any experience with Burt's Bees products, especially their men's line?  I've tried it but I'm curious to know others opinions. As for my results.. The shaving cream is a little weird. It doesn't generate…See More

Multi-Brand Razor Packs

HI Everybody-I've been using Merkur blades or grocery store cheapos since I got my DE razor for Christmas I've been considering ordering one of the sampler pack sort of deals off of Amazon. The sort of things that come with a set each of 10 or so different brands. Should I go down this route, in order to sample a variety of blades? It's cheaper than buying an individual pack of numerous brands. Has anyone else tried this? Are they generally good quality blades, or a good representation of each…See More

My Story

I read the "Losing Dad" article yesterday while I was giving blood, and it was hard for me to make it through without crying. I lost my father five years ago, and the pain of his death is still quite vivid. He was 42 years old, died of a heart attack doing yard work. I was away at college at the time, and when the hospital called, I knew right away more or less what had happened. The next two years after he died are a blur. I finished school, went on to graduate school, managed to fail myself…See More
