Jason P. Franklin replied to Jack Bauer's discussion At what point does acceptable appreciation of an attractive woman become "lust"? in the group Christian Men
"I'm not sure it's something that can be neatly pinned down. Allow me to change temptations for a bit to provide illustration of where I'm coming from. There are some people who struggle with alcohol their entire lives. For them even…"

Secret Agent Man (NOT)

Me: Oh, I didn’t know you were still awake. And here I was trying to be all stealthy.Jenn: Yea, you’re pretty terrible at that.Me: At least you know I don’t have a secret double life as a super spy or something.Jenn: If you do, your mild mannered alter ego is REALLY good!See More

First Clue?

Apparently a FEMA videographer asked cleanup volunteers in Mississippi to change their Salvation Army T-shirts before he would film their efforts. The feature on Fox News was interesting enough in its own right. What was surprising was the statement by the news show anchor that she wasn't aware the Salvation Army was a Christian organization. What? Really? The word…See More

Simple Pleasures

What are some of life’s simple pleasures?Watching the kids play in the pool (and indoor heated pool no less). Taking them to a Children’s Museum, along with my parents and sister, and watching the kids explore, romp, learn and have a blast. Sending Maggie and Jenn off with my mom and sister for some girl time. Eating In-N-Out burgers with my Dad. Putting the little ones down for naps and taking one myself.Good night moon...See More

In My Dreams

The following exchange took place in my classroom after school. The janitors had just finished vacuuming my room and the noise of the vacuum could be heard coming through the door. Maggie & Abbie were doing their homework (or were supposed to be).Abbie: I wish there was no such thing as noise.Maggie: I wish there was no such thing as homework.Abbie: Well I wish there was no such thing as homework too.Me: I wish there was no such thing as complaining.Abbie: Yea, but that will never…See More

"I perhaps should have prefaced my post here by stating that Abbie is my six-year-old daughter. Here comment was given completely out of the blue as she cleared her breakfast dishes from the table this morning. I just thought her definition was cute."

Burn Notice

Posted on May 13, 2010 at 9:30am 2 Comments

Yesterday evening I did something amazingly stupid. After making sure the coals in the barbecue were hot I cleaned the grill, then lifted said grill to spread the coals out. The trouble is, I grabbed the grill with my bare hand.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I…

Being Fleeced

Maggie had a spelling assignment where she had to write sentences using the spelling words. Here’s one she wrote using the spelling words “wool” and “ceiling”.

“Hey look! The wool is on the ceiling.”

I guess if I looked closer at the picture, I would've noticed the brand. Actually, after looking, the front fender reminds me a little of an Indian.

It's Jordan's hand (my niece). I'll have to try to find the original picture to confirm that. But, if I remember correctly, this was the day I took her and a friend hiking at Lassen.

Sir replied to leadership's discussion How can a man know that he has achieved manhood and earned the title of man?
"Initiation works.  Boot camp.  Anything you achieve or overcome that leads to other men recognizing you as one of them, and you knowing it."
