"There is a Sanuces Ryu school of Jujutsu (created by Moses Powell) that does a lot with "modern" arnis. I know they have a dojo in the Chicagoland area, and I would recommend them. But of course that's my opinion, check…"
Being that I encourage beer drinking, not as some hooligan activity, but as an art form elevated to the epicurian heights of wine tasting, I propose a new name for our brotherhood of those who recognize the art and craft of beer making, and appreciate the subtle aspects of flavor. The ancient Greek work for beer was Zythos (yes, even the ancient Greeks had beer), so from that I've coined the term Zythosophile, and/or Zythophile. Personally I like Zythophile better. Any takers?P.S. Why is…See More
"This is actually a pet project of mine I'm working on with a few friends (not these apps, but ones of a similar nature).
Untappd is the only beer drinking app I currently use - it's not exactly great at logging your thoughts on a beer (or…"
There are a couple of good Beer Apps that I've found, and wanted to share with my fellow aleophiles (I don't think that's a word, but it should be). The two that I'm trying out were free, and are called "Beer" and "Beer Genie." What they do is enable you to write down taste taking notes and remarks about the various beers that you try. They have their differences, and I'm still deciding which one I like better, but I'm leaning towards "Beer." From the reviews, the only problem is that it…See More
"I am in an Urban system in the South. I wear Khakis and a button down shirt with a tie. I usually wear bow ties. If it is cold I will wear a sport coat or a jacket. I will wear a suit on conference days or PTA days.…"
"I tend to do slacks (or khakies) and a button up shirt. We have a group of us that do "Tie Tuesdays" but that is the only day I don a tie. I will do sweaters, or a cardigan over the shirt a few days of the week too. I…"
"Good Morning Jaredd,
I have made it a policy not to wear a full suit because parents, visitors, and students mistake me for administration. I think that wearing at least a pressed dress shirt and a tie is a good minimum so that students know the…"
Good Morning fellow Gents,I am in the process of updating my teacher wardrobe. I'm trying to make myself more professional appearing. What I'm looking for is suggestions. Obviously suits are going overboard, but where do we incorporate seriousness and sophistication into our teacher job attire? I think most male teachers dress pretty casually, and some of that should be encouraged, but what do you guys wear? Do you wear slacks, dress shirt and ties? If not, what is your look?See More
"One book non-fictional book that has changed how and why I practice my martial arts is "Living the Martial Way" by Forrest E. Morgan. I cannot recommend this book high enough. It takes the classic ideas of the Warrior Way, and…"
Just as Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War,” has been applied to many different aspects of modern life; I believe there are many great lessons to be learned from all of the warriors and warrior societies, from SEALS to Samurais, and Spetsnaz to Spartans.
Anyone out there know of articles on how to use this site most efficiently? I don't see any sort of FAQ or tutorials. As an example, I noticed that there are a few guys on here that are very good at keeping up with many conversations, and I'd love to here your tricks. It seems to be tricky to keep up on what's read and what's unread, for example. I didn't see an option to customize the color or weight of visited links, nor does there appear to be an unread 'orb' - anything really. Are you guys…See More
Ah, cockroaches. The scummy, skittering, pesky little pests that somehow manage to vanish whenever you flick on the bathroom light. Like Mother Nature's little Batmans. Part of what makes them so hard to control is their resiliency, which is something of a biological marvel. Here are five reasons the humble roach will outlive us all:1. They can adapt at a scary-fast rateIn the mid-1980s, exterminators began mixing sugary roach-bait with slow-acting poisons intended to spread and wipe out entire…See More
