Gilets, Bodywarmers & Down Vests

I'm a 6' 2" guy who likes wearing gilets, I own 5 in total. I'm just looking for advice though on what other people wear with their gilets so I can try out some new looks.

"Fitted Polos work fine.  I also like some Patagonia shirts.  The shirts should always be tucked in.  Except when they should not.  Which only really applies to shirts with a square bottom and only when they are not buttoned up.…"

"Ah cool, nice one. What style shirt do you go for? I wanna try out wearing a shirt with a vest casually but not sure what shirt to get."

"For casual my defaults are a shirt with a collar, dark blue jeans and brogues or oxfords.    Add that vest and you have a light warm layer and a place for your phone.   I work in IT so I can ware it to work also.  I just…"

"Ah thanks, yeah I think this is a better look. Sounds like you dress classier than I do haha I don't put in very much effort. I really wanna try the casual shirt and puffy vest look, not sure what shirt to get though..."

"Yeah I'm more of a fan of the puffy look, although I'm not a stranger to wearing waistcoats or vests with light  padding. It might sound weird but I prefer having less on my arms."

"Have you looked at non-puffy vests?  Or is the puffy look you like?"

"Great weekender look.  Between the shirt and jeans you are not in work mode. Once you do that, (weekend casual mode) you have a lot of variance.   I still don't like puffy collars but this is an outdoor functional jacket.  So its…"

"Here's a slightly more standard style I went for. I'm hoping to try at rugged look at some point with a casual shirt on under a black vest but I'm not sure what shirt to get so any advice there would be great."

"I would've worn my red puffy vest over a shirt as I'm sure it could pass as a life preserver - shows a concern for aquatic safety."

"I'm not gonna ditch my vests, I like wearing them and wear them more than most of my other types of clothes :P I was more looking for suggestions on what other people wear with them."

"Some clothes are purely fashionable (tuxedos), some purely functional (coveralls/boiler suit), and the rest are on a spectrum between the two. I feel these vests (never heard the word gilet before so thank you for the addition to my vocabulary) lean…"
