The Unicorn

Today's Unicorn

For most people, when someone mentions a unicorn, images of rainbows and big eyed, one-horned ponies come to mind. I'm not sure exactly when this started but it probably resulted from the peace and love craze of the 60's along with marketing strategies targeting little girls with cute art. Go figure, you put hippies and capitalists together and they butcher a powerful creature's manliness. Today you won't find… Continue

Ode to a great man...

Posted on January 9, 2010 at 3:24pm 2 Comments

Everyone has a man in their life that they hold with reverence. Mine happens to be my grandfather. I would write of my father but he's still live and well so I'll hold out on writing a dedication to him.

My grandfather, Harry was an outstanding man and a mountain of manliness. He held himself to personally study current scientific theories and discoveries, kept an exquisite rock collection, read through books on various birds, and tending his own yard and garden with finesse. When I… Continue

Becoming a man

Posted on January 7, 2010 at 12:00pm 1 Comment

I am now 23 years old and until I stumbled upon this site I never really sat down to think about what being a man is really about. Not that I wasn't a man, I have lived my live with conviction and virtue and often felt incompatible with the depraved culture around me. I've always idealized the past, the books I read gave me a yearning for a world with purity, chivalry, and danger. I wanted a world polarized, good versus evil, where discipline was valued but instead I lived in a world of gray… Continue

Finding your Purpose/Passion

Evening Gentlemen,Recently, life has thrown some colossal curve balls my way. Things I never expected to happen, well... happened. To be completely honest I've found myself all the way at the beginning of the metaphorical "level" with a clean slate.  This has been incredibly freeing and allowed me to spend some time exploring things I previously would never have done. After going through a really hard breakup of a long term relationship, and dealing with my parents going through some very hard…See More
