I've got a Lamy Safari, and while it's not too impressive looking (except to the people who are all "omg you have a fountain pen!?!?") it's fine for general writing purposes. I bought it because I'd never owned a fountain pen before and didn't wan...
Never been disappointed with a Lamy or a Waterman!
I use a Waterman Harmonie on a daily basis to take notes in class/library/archive - http://www.waterman.com/en/style/pens/harmonie - but I don't know how much one would cost is the US.
Honestly,...
If you have the time and want something beautiful I'd say you should scan ebay for a vintage pen and do any necessary repairs yourself. The information and parts are not hard to find, I can provide some links if you're interested.
I just finished reading Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine. Next up will be Eureka by Edgar Allan Poe, which admittedly is not a book despite being Poe's longest work - it's still short. I'll probably read Dharma Bums by Kerouac after. I'm a New Englan...
I need some time to pick who I do this for. I am cycling 4,000 km across Europe next summer to raise money for microloans, but that's not now. I also volunteer to organize fun giant mob events but that's really not in-line with the purpose of help...
Greetings - To answer your question, go the jetpens.com site and order a Pilot Vpen. It's exactly the same as the Varsity pen, but has a fine point nib. Like you, I prefer fine and sometimes even extra-fine nibs. But I have discovered that the Jap...
Being a graduate student, first off, I have almost no expenses. I don't own a car so my transportation costs are maintenance on my bicycles and a T pass (our subway/train/bus system in Boston). I mostly buy food and pay rent with my paltry but liv...
I'm still trying to do the Mentor thing. I need to update my resume and linkedin as well. I never did take a woman on a date - terrrrrrible timing. So I guess I'm 12/15 but I am making an honest effort on the mentor finding.
The journal task is g...
I made homemade chickpea patties (with gluten and bread crumbs) and some pasta with basil I was growing and picked seconds before the pasta was done boiling, olive oil, kosher sea salt, red pepper flakes, Parmesan and Romano cheese and lightly sau...
I don't expect to see as much discussion on this thread as others, but I'll check in and say the family jewels are holding up just fine, thankfully. Still working on "If," though.
Pilot Knight is a very fine pen. It is priced at around $35. The nib size is medium; however, Japanese pen nibs are different than European. A medium in Japanese nibs translates to fine in European nibs.
Good luck.
As for cartridge/converter pens, I highly recommend the syringe filling system from Pear Tree Pens. Inexpensive, and allows you to refill cartridges and converters without making a mess. PTP also has an amazing ink sampling program where you can o...
Ah I'm a bit late to the community but I cycle almost daily. I live without a car and rely solely on the MBTA (Boston bus, train, and subway we all affectionately call "the T") and my bike! Besides utility I take it out for fun and health, averagi...
