Hey guys. I have been brewed a few batches of beer now, all have been different styles of ales. I have had an odd occurrence with a few of them. There has been an odd after taste, sort of like plastic. It has not been present in all of my batches which makes it more strange. I am doing small batches in food grade plastic buckets; but I am told that that wont cause the off taste. Have any of you experienced this; or know what could be causing it? See More

Good afternoon gents!I don't currently have the ability nor the confidence to make furniture yet. So my wife and I did the next best thing for our new furniture. We bought all American made from American made materials, a 5 piece bedroom set, a kitchen hutch, and a beautiful French country style computer desk. The wood is all maple and unfinished. I am getting ready to start finishing these over the next couple weeks, but I wanted to come you y'all for any tips you may have. I've stained…See More
Hey gents! I have been making my own bread now for a couple of years and I just can't get the loaf to taste like the bakery bread. It always tastes like it comes from the bread machine ( I don't even have one!!) I have tried a sourdough starter and other types of yeast strains; I use bread flour; ive tried different types of fats and oils; I have hand kneaded and used my wife's kitchen aide... all to no avail. Don't get me wrong the bread tastes good. It just isn't like the bakery...I hate…See More

"What exactly is it what you are trying to do? Is this a roleplay thing or do you actually want to learn skills? The things you are talking about take time to learn. People went through year long apperenticeships to learn things like blacksmithing or…"
Hello, I am recently returning to these forums after a couple of years with a new-found interest in old world traditions and community building.I want to combine these two interests by forming a fraternal order for young men to be part of a positive group. Because most young men don't have a lot of disposable income the idea would be to facilitate their practical, rather than financial, contributions to their communities. We would try out and practice old world skills such as blacksmithing,…See More
"I prefer the ESV. I am a theology student and so the "essentially-literal" translation is useful to me since the Bible is the bulk of my research material. For my own personal devotions though I have enjoyed using both the NIV and NLT. As…"
"There are many, many theories about what you are asking. Simply put, your question boils down to the purpose of the atonement, or "why did Jesus have to die?". I wrote a brief (2 page) essay on the subject for a theology class which was…"
