"The sending the child to get a switch accomplished two things.  It allowed time for the child to think about the infraction and it allowed the parent time to cool down.  You really don't want to punish a child while angry."

"As some one who came from an semi-abusive home, some times you have to let the anger out. Workout, get a punching bag go on long walks/runs. Do something to work the the stress off. It will help a lot with keep the anger to a manageable level."
