My Great Uncle was a paratrooper in World War II. He was a sergeant and squad leader in the 82nd Airborne Division and was awarded a Purple Heart. He fought in the Normandy Invasion and The Battle of the Bulge. Fly the American Flag with pride!

Comment by Jess Levens on January 3, 2013 at 4:34pm I love this photo. My great uncle was a Marine grunt who got a purple heart on Guadalcanal.
When I was a Marine journalist, I did an interview with a retired Marine Raider who fought in the battle of the bulge and gave me his first-hand account. The story earned 1st Place Marine Corps-wide that year. Here is a link if you'd like to read it.
