Haven't done any woodworking since I lost my wood shop to my ex. Had to buy a small drop leaf table on Amazon for my apartment. It came with just a natural oil rub finish and I am thinking of doing more, like staining to match the chairs which are darker and or painting part also.
My question is this: With the oil rub (have never finished with oil), will the table take stain and varnish on the tabletop? Will the legs take paint? Not to sure about covering the rubbed finish.
