Brush: WSP Prince - Finest
Bowl: LE TSN Bill Bowl
Razor: Schick Krona
Blade: Astra SP (2)
Post: RazoRock Alum/Cold Water/Witch Hazel
A/S: Krampert's Finest Bay Rum

DFS, damn near BBS, in 2.5 passes today. I had a wetter brush this run with the B&M, and with a 40 second load time I was rewarded with copious amounts of thick, rich lather with great cushion and wonderful glide. I really like this soap, and encourage everyone to take advantage of the sale they have going on right now. I see this soap being one that I could own multiple scents of, like Mike's, because it's just that good. Lathers easily, great scents, and post shave feel is awesome. 3 days growth and the Astra was a little rough the first pass, but smoothed out on the second. Krampert's makes a repeat performance because it's freakin' awesome is why. Great way to start the week.

Adding Jax's June Shaves so that we can keep this month together. Not to mention Jax always uses some great products, and we all get ideas from Jax's Den.

Blade: Blue Bird Stainless (2)
Brush: Semogue 1520
Soap/Cream: Crabtree & Evelyn West Indian Lime Cream
Post: Hot Water, Cold Water, Thayer's Rose

I'm starting to get some good results with the Semogue 1520. Still not as broken in as the 1800, but getting there. Great lather this morning with the 1520 and the West Indian Lime. Piles of it. Made for a very smooth shave this morning. Don't know much about Blue Bird Blades, but am getting a decent shave out of it with my Tech.

June 1 shave

Pre: Hot Shower

Prep: AoS Pre shave oil (unscented)

Razor: Rolls Razor

Blade: Rolls "Best Sheffield Steel"

Brush: AoS Badger

Soap: AoS Shave cream tub (unscented)

Post: Hot Water, towel dry

A/S: Pinaud Clubman

DFS after 2 passes.  Also after sharpening the Rolls on the hone an additional 48 strokes, 12 passes each way then turn the blade and 12 more each way. Followed by 20 strokes on the strop side 5 per way and then a turn of the blade.  The Art of Shaving shave cream put out an impressive lather with nary an almond size dab in the hollow of the brush.  No bowl, I've been a brush to face man for decades and this works well with the badger and AoS cream.   I read the article referred to on this forum on boar vs badger brushes and can say great things about both.  Badger definitely keeps the heat from hot water better than the boar. Both boar brushes feel stiffer and less wimpy compared to my badger.

June 2 shave

Pre: Hot Shower

Prep: AoS Pre shave oil (unscented)

Razor: Schick Pewter handle

Blade: Trac II

Brush: Sekine Boar Bristle

Mug:   Dad's Atlas China shaving Mug

Soap: Williams

Post: Hot Water, towel dry

A/S: Brut

DFS, near BBS shave.  Williams soap is all I ever knew for years and years and still works great.  Still puts out prodigious amounts of lather in the mug before I slather it on my face. I have to really load the Sekine wood handle boar brush with water , no shaking it out first for the right amount of lather. I picked up a nice stainless shave stand (OK, toothbrush holder) at Bed bath and Beyond for around $10 that matches our faucets pretty closely.

Wednesday, June 5th

Prep: Hot Shower/Every Man Jack SIgnature Mint Face Scrub
Soap: BDF "Exclusivo"
Brush: WSP Prince - Finest
Bowl: LE TSN BIll Bowl
Razor: Schick Krona
Blade: Astra SP (3)
Post: RazoRock Alum/Cold Water/Witch Hazel
A/S: Prospector Co. Peary & Henson

DFS, damn close to BBS, in 2.5 passes today. First run with the BDF soaps and man what a run it was. 20 second load with a damp brush and I was rewarded with copious amounts of rich lather. The lather had excellent cushion and glide. The Krona/Astra are providing decent shaves, but not like the Krona/Crystal did. Next I plan to try a Red Personna in it and see how it performs. Pulled out Peary & Henson this morning by Prospector Co. This is great after shave with a witch hazel base instead of alcohol, which is why I usually preserve it for winter shaves, but I had been thinking about it so gave it a splash today. Couldn't be more pleased with today's shave.

June 5 shave

Pre: Hot Shower

Prep: AoS Pre shave oil (unscented)

Razor: Schick Krona

Blade: CVS DE

Brush: VdH Boar

Mug:   BSA Camp Massawepie

Soap: VdH luxury

Post: Hot Water, towel dry

A/S: Old Spice

BBS shave today after 2 passes.  I really enjoy the using the Art of Shaving pre shave oil and it seems to give the razor just a bit more glide. The Van der Hagen luxury soap is very different from the Williams, with a nice scent, and plenty of lather. The VdH boar brush holds a lot more water than my very old Sekine boar, so I give it two shakes after soaking the brush in hot water. It does not hold the heat the way badger does.  Love the Krona as always and will need to pick up some sample packs of blades to give some other ones a run.  My son has some feather blades so I'll see if he'll part with one or two.

I like the fact it was a single brand shave! I remember stocking the Old Spice shave kits when I was a stock  boy at CVS in the 70's.

Friday, June 7th

Prep: Hot Shower/Nivea Energy Face Scrub
Soap: Barbiere di Figaro "Classico"
Brush: WSP Prince - Finest
Bowl: LE TSN Bill Bowl
Razor: Schick Krona
Blade: Astra SP (4)
Post: RazoRock Alum/Cold Water/Witch Hazel
A/S: Myrsol Blue

DFS, damn close to BBS, in 2.5 passes today. The Prince and BDF whipped a up a rich lather today with great cushion and glide. I did a 30 second load time with a drier brush than last time, and boy was I rewarded. This soap lathers so easily its crazy, although this time it did require more water due to the drier brush. I also mixed it a tad wetter, just get a feel for how far ranging the sweet spot on this soap is, and so far I'm happy to say the sweet spot is quite large. The Astra is really starting to smooth out. These blades do the job, but don't feel as smooth as the Crystals do to me. Myrsol Blue makes an appearance today. This is a bottle I picked up from Phil and I'm so happy to have this as a permanent spot in my nook. Great Friday Shave...

June 7 shave

Pre: Hot Shower

Prep: AoS Pre shave oil (unscented)

Razor: Schick Krona

Blade: CVS DE

Brush: AoS Badger

Soap: AoS Shave cream (unscented)

Post: Hot Water, towel dry

A/S: Brut

DFS, near BBS today with 2 passes. The Krona was a delight, the Art of Shaving badger brush and shave cream whipped up a wonderful lather with less than an almond size dollop of cream. I gave my son a couple of CVS blades and he is giving me some Astra blades, although he isn't overly fond of the Astra and thinks I got a bum deal. He gave me his straight razor to take to my barber who said he will get the blade hollow ground for him. Its an ExSel made by Case? Meanwhile the shave today was first rate.

June 8 shave

Pre: Hot Shower

Prep: AoS Pre shave oil (unscented)

Razor: Rolls Razor

Blade: Rolls "Best Sheffield Steel"

Brush: AoS Badger

Soap: AoS Shave cream (unscented)

Post: Hot Water, towel dry

A/S:  Pinaud Clubman

CCS, with Rolls today after 2 passes. Lots of soft fluffy lather from the Art of Shaving shave cream pairs well with the Rolls.  Nice and easy with the brush.  I find it hard to shave my chin with the Rolls compared to any of my other razors, it just seems like I have to go slow or risk a cut.  So far the more I use the Rolls its getting better or I'm getting used to a lighter hand with the Razor, at an angle almost parallel to my face.

Thanks Clinton for setting up the June edition!  Bill

Razor: ’68 Slim Adjustable Gillette (Nickel) N4 (set on 7)

Blade: Shark Super Stainless (1)

Brush: Semogue 830

Cream: Palmolive Shave Stick

A/S: Cold-water

I got an easy 2-pass DFS this morning; with this razor, blade, brush, and soap combination.  I like the Palmolive a lot; it has a light menthol fragrance and gently cooling effect on my face.

Monday, June 10th

Prep: Hot Shower/Nivea Energy Face Scrub
Soap: Barbiere di Figaro "Mistero"
Brush: WSP Prince - Finest
Bowl: LE TSN Bill Bowl
Razor: Schick Krona
Blade: Astra SP (5)
Post: RazoRock Alum/Cold Water/Witch Hazel
A/S: Myrsol Blue

DFS, damn near BBS, in 2.5 passes today. BDF has got to be some of the easiest lathering soaps I've ever used. I'd relate the ease of lather to Cella, or RazoRock Fresco (at least in my nook). This is my third run with it and I've loaded it twice at 20 seconds with a damp brush and once for 30 with a drier than normal brush, all three times I've been rewarded with tons of rich lather, that could shave me three times over. On my second round of runs, I'm gonna try some 10 and 15 second loads and see how much lather I get. The Krona/Astra did a good job this morning, and Myrsol Blue continues to be one of the best purchases I've made recently. Good way to start the week.
