Lets see those shave Gentlemen.  Hopefully this month we can get more contributions, otherwise its just me rambling on about how crappy my technique is...LOL.

Pics are always good too, but my camera is still busted so none from me for the time being.

Ground Hog Day, 2013 (AKA My Birthday (40))

Prep: Hot Shower/Mr Glo

Brush: WSP Prince (Finest)

Soap: MWF

Bowl: LE TSN Bill Bowl

Razor: '63 Gillette Slim Adjustable (4)

Blade: Crystal (4)

Post: Cold Water/Witch Hazel

A/S: Captain's Choice Cat 'O Nine Tails (Sample)

DFS in 3 passes this morning.  The first run with the Prince and the MWF did not produce a lather to my liking, but I had to be some where so I chose to muscle through.  That's always a mistake.  I also had my angle wrong at some points along my shave and had significant pulling.  Still only had two very small weepers and a DFS so all was not lost.  I won a sample of Cat 'O Nine Tails over at the Shave Nook the other day and decided to go ahead and give it a run with this shave.  You can clearly tell where Scott came up with the name as it is like a slap in the face, literally.  I actually like it better than his Bay Rum as it seems more robust to me, and less sweet.  That what I like about Krampert's Finest as it isn't as sweet.  At any rate, the shave could have been better, but it also could have been a lot worse.  As long as we learn and improve, its a good shave.

Prep: Hot Shower/Mr Glo
Cream: Palmolive Moisutrizing Deluxe (India)
Brush: WSP Prince (Finest)

A/S: Captains Choice Cat 'O Nine Tails "The Cat"/USB

DFS near BBS in 3 passes today. I needed a quick lather so I reached for a cream this morning. Its been a while since I used the Palmolive and I had forgotten just how much I love this cream. It, the Prince, and the Bill Bowl produced a wonderful lather with plenty of cushion and great glide giving me a close shave with no irritation. I'm liking the Slim set to 4, and won't change the setting until I finish up this blade, then I'll reload a Crystal and up it again to see how it goes. I won "The Cat" in the PIF and I have to tell you my first impressions of it are that I really like it. Still the classic scent with out the sweetness I tend to get from the original Bay Rum. I'm gonna switch the two out though off and on until "The Cat" is gone and then I can make a more definitive evaluation.

All in all a great shave to start the day. Very happy. Have a wonderful day gentlemen.

Here is my Feb. 6th lineup.

I am getting back in the saddle after an extended hiatus.  I still haven’t had the chance to take any pictures but I at least wanted to start posting my shaves.  My life is still in upheaval but I will not let that bring me down.  I need to start doing the things I love and one of them is this daily post.  I am not sure is I will post every day but I intend to try.

So, without further ado, I am thoroughly enjoying my shaves since I changed the razor setting from 9 to 7.  Today’s combo of razor, blade, brush, and soap resulted in a 3-pass BBS with no irritation at all.  I also like the way my face feels after using witch hazel.  Didn’t need to use any after-shave either, awesome.  I hope everyone has a great Friday.  I know I will!  Bill

So glad to see you back and posting again Bill.

Thanks Clinton, it feels good to be back.  Hopefully things will begin to settle down and I can be more active here.  Bill

Blade: Crystal (5)

A/S: Captain's Choice Bay Rum "The Bay"

BBS in 3 passes today. I feel no hairs and had no weepers today so I have to classify this as a BBS. I changed up my angles just a bit on my face, and added a tad of pressure on my neck. Probably won't get by with that for long as the blade ages, but this particular Friday, I had wonderful results so I'll take it. I love S. Maria. It never fails to produce one of the best lathers I am able to create. The scent is light and soft and doesn't conflict with any A/S I've tried with it. The Slim is performing well at this setting, but I'm anxious to up it and try it at a new setting, however I want a fresh blade for that so I'll wait. Today's A/S choice is "The Bay" as I am doing a cross comparison between it and "The Cat". I'm not able to pick out the subtle differences between the two at this point, but I have some ideas that may help me over the weekend. At any rate "The Bay" feels wonderful on this fine BBS I got today.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone.

Saturday's line up!

A/S: "The Cat"

DFS near BBS in 3 passes today. I have been producing the worst lathers lately with MWF. I can't quite nail down what the problem is. It's either too wet and evaporates on my face and bowl, or too dry and dries out on my skin; most times it's both in the same lather. At any rate, in to the nook MWF goes, and entering the line up this week will be another fav that hasn't gotten any love lately, TOBS Sandalwood. I'm keeping the Prince out to see how he performs with this soap. All in all the shave still wasn't all that bad. My technique is improving and the shaves are getting faster. Last shave was "The Bay" that means this shave is "The Cat". Still can't quite figure the difference between these two, other than "The Bay" seems sweeter, and that is why I like "The Cat" more. I'll still keep flipping back and forth. My impression is that they are both lovely after shaves and different enough you can have both in your rotation.

Happy Sunday.

Prep - Hot shower/Hot towel

Brush- Omega silvertip

Soap- TOBS Jermyn Street

Razor- Muhle R89

Blade- Cheap Boots blades from Boots pharmacy

Post- Cold water/The handmade soap company aftershave cream

Bad shave today. Little shaky after my night out last night ;). Gave up after one pass and just went with a socially acceptable shave for work. Think I am going to stop going for a real close shave anyway because my neck and cheeks are giving me trouble with bumps! No matter how I change things around it just doesn't seem to be working great for me. I have to say though, the Handmade Soap Company shave cream feels really good on my skin. They have a soap too but it doesn't lather very well! The cream is excellent though!
