Your time would be better spent checking out the news.  Try to keep up.

My, oh my!  My good buddy Shane has followed me here! I haven't eaten a Twinkie since I was in high school.  I found out from a reliable source that the white stuff in the middle of a Twinkie isn't frosting - it's Crisco and high-fructose corn syrup.

PS:  Shane, I'm praying for you.

It's a good time to start. You won't be tempted by Twinkies now.

Went to the doctor for a physical, 11/14. I already knew I had to lose weight. But according to the info the doctor gave me, I'm O B E S E !!!!

I've never had a wake-up call like that. If I follow the guidelines the doc gave me, I'd have to lose 116 pounds - almost 35% of my present body weight - 302.   I want to do this right.  Not sure if I should shoot for that much weight loss.  Any advice?

also becoming more active helps and try do things while you'll normally be sitting. For example I have this home-trainer and whenever i watch television I jump on it and cycle a few kilometers. Just at slow pace sometimes, but it still keeps you moving anyway.

during the last year I lost about 35 pounds myself. I think the most important would be to permanently change your lifestyle. Drinking water instead of lemonades and soda is a great start, going for chicken instead of meat, eating more vegetables instead of potato, rice, pasta and meat, and fruits as a snack. make the changes gradually and don't push it so you'll be less likely to stop and more likely to adopt them.

Well, he didn't kill me last night.  But, today is a new day.

Seriously, though, we both did pretty good.  My hope is that this will be mutually beneficial.  And, just to say the words, I like my Marine neighbor.  We'll see if I still like him, after tonight.  :)

I'm starting a new exercise/weight loss routine, tonight.  I approached one of my neighbors, a few months ago, about working out together...he had just begun a divorce, and figured it would benefit him, and help me as well in that I would have a workout buddy.

Well, this week, we're starting.  And, it's particularly frightening, since he's a US Marine veteran who intends to get back into shape and who apparently wants to drag me, kicking and screaming, along for the ride.

It's scary...but exciting at the same time.

There's a saying among the Marines I've met, that pain is weakness leaving the body.  We're going to be saying goodbye to a lot of weakness.  :)
