Hey everyone.   I just put a VX muffler on my truck.   I know they're Flowmaster copies but it was $30 less and I'm pretty happy so far.   There should be a law banning stock mufflers on V8 engines lol.

Glad to hear it's just a bad censor. Just put tape over it and forget it. LOL!!

Hey guys. Turns out the problem is just a bad censor. The people I've talked to say I don't have to replace it if I don't want to. I'm thinking about doing it anyways because the check engine light is getting to be very annoying.

Kevin,
The fuel tank works by maintaining a slight pressure within. Your EVAP control leak means that there is a leak within the system that doesn't allow for the needed pressure build up. That means the problem could be in the fuel tank, fuel tank cap, charcoal canister, thermo vacuum valve or ported vacuum purge port. I am believing with you that it is something inexpensive and easy to fix. Google EVAP for tips on fixing it yourself. It could be any one of the afore mentioned five things.

Let us know what transpires.

I bought an 05 Dodge Ram 1500 a bout a month ago and now the check engine light is on. I took it to Auto Zone and the computer said EVAP control large leak detected. I got a new gas cap but that hasn't worked. It also said there could be a problem with a loose hose or something called a vacuum solenoid. If it's anything more then an oil change or spark plugs, it's to the point where I don't know what I'm doing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My 1993 F-150 is in sad shape and nothing as nice looking as y'all have, but it gets me to work, and helps me haul supplies from Lowes and Home Depot.

First truck I wrecked. 1988 F150 4x4 shortbox. It had a cam, headers, exhaust on a 5.0 with a C6.

1988 F250 ext. cab 8' bed. I lifted it and put tires on it but sold it.

1982 F250 had a 460 with 500HP. It was set up for racing. That beast would go! I broke enough drive shafts and other parts so sold it.

1974 F250 factory highboy. It had a 390 with headers and cam and C6 with shifter kit. It was riding on 36" super swampers. Sold it because it was a gas hog.

I have this one now. Its a 1990 F150. I have a 6" lift on it and 35"s. It had a inline 6 under the hood which I love! It has loads of torque and gets 16mpg in town/20 mpg on the highway. It also has a standard tranny. Planning on doing some engine work on it soon and well as a little body.

AoM site FAQ or customization tips

Anyone out there know of articles on how to use this site most efficiently? I don't see any sort of FAQ or tutorials. As an example, I noticed that there are a few guys on here that are very good at keeping up with many conversations, and I'd love to here your tricks.  It seems to be tricky to keep up on what's read and what's unread, for example.  I didn't see an option to customize the color or weight of visited links, nor does there appear to be an unread 'orb' - anything really. Are you guys…See More

5 fascinating reasons cockroaches will outlive us all

Ah, cockroaches. The scummy, skittering, pesky little pests that somehow manage to vanish whenever you flick on the bathroom light. Like Mother Nature's little Batmans. Part of what makes them so hard to control is their resiliency, which is something of a biological marvel. Here are five reasons the humble roach will outlive us all:1. They can adapt at a scary-fast rateIn the mid-1980s, exterminators began mixing sugary roach-bait with slow-acting poisons intended to spread and wipe out entire…See More
