Working Outside Shirtless

I worked like a dog for nearly 2 hours today installing landscaping around our neighborhood pool.  It felt so invigorating and masculine to be sweating like crazy and shirtless. It is a shame more…Continue

I have hesitated to post here, but feel like I need to share a bit of my journey. I come from a VERY modest background and felt uncomfortable being shirtless in public. Add to that being overweight for most of my teen and adult life, plus some major scarring from numerous surgeries, I didn't want to gross anyone out. However, this AoM site and specifically The Shirtless Man, has encouraged and challenged me to be bolder. I have started sleeping shirtless (a HUGE step for me) and have seen and FELT a complete change. I am more confident and feel so much more manly since taking those steps. I will be shirtless around the house and outside, on occasion, this summer. Thanks for the witness here, brothers. I feel like I am finally locking arms with REAL men!

Warm weather finally arrive yesterday with a bang.  It was in the 90's, although it will cool to the low 80's over the next few days - ideal shirtless weather.  I noticed several guys who were shirtless yesterday - and getting rather pink from the sudden sun exposure.  I will have to limit my shirtlessness for that reason until I develop a decent tan.

Just had a beach weekend, and spent almost the whole time Friday evening to Sunday morning shirtless (put on a shirt to go out Saturday night).  What a lovely feeling of freedom and informality after a winter that was far too long.

Love to soak in a tub.  Wish I had one big enough for me and my beloved.  Not going to invest in a hot-tub though, a.k.a. the world's most expensive birdbath!

Or a cold beer.

I love a good bath, especially after my deadlift workout and my back feels like raw hamburger.

Add a martini and I'm in heaven.

LOL Showering has become universally popular with women as well as men.  At one time smoking was perceived as being masculine, as well as showering, but those days are long past.

Exactly right Bob, it did reinforced the masculine ID, I think that is one of the reasons that taking a shower is manly, taking a bath is feminine.

I am pretty comfortable with my body, not overly proud but I don't have any reason to hate my body, but I still don't feel the need to swim naked with other guys.  Maybe if it was the norm in my culture I would feel more comfortable with it but it isn't.   I don't mind dressing or even showering in a locker room even in a shared shower (I was in the military) but swimming naked, no thanks.

AoM site FAQ or customization tips

Anyone out there know of articles on how to use this site most efficiently? I don't see any sort of FAQ or tutorials. As an example, I noticed that there are a few guys on here that are very good at keeping up with many conversations, and I'd love to here your tricks.  It seems to be tricky to keep up on what's read and what's unread, for example.  I didn't see an option to customize the color or weight of visited links, nor does there appear to be an unread 'orb' - anything really. Are you guys…See More
