@Brian

I'm going off the version from the Wolfetones.

Actually two versions I listened to are capoed. One at II one at III. Doesn't matter really It's played out of C/Am relative to the capo. . . Thing about it is the capo in "standard use" is to change the key to fit the voice of the singer. You could play/sing in the real key of C if the singer can handle it. You could also capo and change the chords you play to make it in the key of C. . . blah blah. It is a trick often done in the studio to add texture or to simulate a 12-string.

Does anyone know if the song "Come Out Ye Black and Tans" is played with a Capo?

Your pinky does need more use and experience if you're finding it easily fatigued, but I would recommend using another finger for power chords. I assume when you say you're using your index and ring finger, you mean you're playing the simpler chord that uses only two notes, the root and the 5th, rather than an octave as well (i.e. 6th string 5th fret and 5th string 7th fret, rather than 4th string 7th fret in addition). Both are used in many songs, but using another finger and freeing up your pinky will allow you to perform sus chords and such. For example, try playing 6th string 5th fret, 5th string 7th fret, and then doing a simple blues shuffle that adds 5th string 9th fret. Damn hard if you have to move your pinky over to do it. I also recommend incorporating this in to your practice routine to get that pinky going.

Quick question for the more experienced guitar players. When you're playing power chords, do you use your index and ring finger? I find it easier using my index and pinky finger at first, but then my pinky starts getting sore from applying pressure for so long. Should I be using my ring finger, or does my pinky need more power chord experience so that it doesn't get as sore?
