Does the alt-right even exist? When the left speaks of it, it usually means people who post cartoon frogs and are barely even right sometimes. I know some actual fascists, and the only people who call themselves "alt-right" are universally hated edgelords like Richard Spencer. So what does it mean? I've heard some people say it used to be something close to libertarianism. Personally I think that whatever it meant before, it has become meaningless now. Same as calling someone "literally Hitler." Hence the thread title.

AntiFa is defended because they think racism is an ultimate evil. Ultimate evils are defeated BAMN.

Are you secretly Scott Adams? That ties in with his take on "violent rhetoric."

I can't even draw decent stick figures.

Well, this is interesting.

I recently met someone who was at the Charlottesville troubles. He described himself as alt-right, and the event as Unify the Right, bringing together (he said) a wide variety of types of people. I wanted to hear his story, so I didn't offer my opinion on what kind of variety is willing to be seen with white supremacists --!

He was there to protect people going to the rally from anti-FA. Did they need it? Based on his comrades being blinded by having bleach thrown in their faces, yes, definitely, he said.

He did ask some police why _they_ weren't doing anything to keep the 2 groups apart, and they said, We were told to stand here instead.

Then the alt-righters were told to leave the space by police. So he asked, How do you want us to leave? The policeman pointed to the street where anti-FA was congregated. This guy said, You do realize that if we go that way there's going to be brawling and bloodshed. The cop said, I don't care. We didn't want you here anyway.

So the people ordered to leave left... violating a police barricade and finding another way out that didn't lead directly to anti-FA.

I have the impression another of my friends (strongly on the left) may have talked to these alt-righters.  I haven't gotten any info from him yet beyond "I'm glad it's over and I never want to be in this situation again."

Have not run into any anti-FA, yet.

The cop is right. Outside agitators were bringing their problems to his town.

Yeah, they essentially funneled the protesters to clash with antifa. Look up the history of the vice mayor and tell me what you find.
