Does the alt-right even exist? When the left speaks of it, it usually means people who post cartoon frogs and are barely even right sometimes. I know some actual fascists, and the only people who call themselves "alt-right" are universally hated edgelords like Richard Spencer. So what does it mean? I've heard some people say it used to be something close to libertarianism. Personally I think that whatever it meant before, it has become meaningless now. Same as calling someone "literally Hitler." Hence the thread title.

The alt right is literally Hitler.

BONALSD GRUMPF IS A FACVIST!!!1!!

Hitler was a Zionist shill.

HITLER WAS A GOOD GOY!

Alt.right was a channel on UseNet back in the 90s. It was pretty much like /pol/ is now. Except their cuck porn was in ASCII format.

So it goes back pretty far. I reckon the left's method of identification, is actually correct then. Except their bar is pretty low. And they associate memes with natsoc.

Even back then it was a collection of people who were generally conservative, but didn't like the direction the mainstream right neocons were taking us. A bunch of religious zealots, survivalists (preppers), libertarians, separatists, various white nationalist bodies, ufologists etc. It was never a homogeneous entity. It's a label, not a movement. An "alternative to the mainstream right".

Shane, that sounds like a shit ton of fun.

Yeah. But, on 56k dialup.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

How dare you lump Libertarians in with right leaning religious zealots?!

I know right? I find it hard to imagine the alt-right as being libertarian.

"Yes.  Saw a ring of fire around a black disk.  Supposedly it was the corona, but it was plenty bright. Had so much fun looking thru my 2 pinhole cameras, seeing it on my tablet, and an occasional look thru eclipse glasses."
