I wrote this in relation to the UK, but seeing as it's an issue in the US too you can all still comment and give your opinions.
Give your opinions on the issue and on the document itself. Please make all criticism constructive. Regardless of your stance in this debate, be respectful to others. Feel free to challenge their viewpoints but in a gentlemanly way AND BE KIND.

Marriage is more important than CHL permits. But, like I said, gay relationships aren't marriages. Unmarried straight couples have to deal with the same interstate legal disparities that gay couples do.

And like I said, legally, they are in several states. The exact, and I mean exact same argument was made against interracial marriages. Your argument is invalid.
Permalink Reply by Jack Bauer on January 23, 2013 at 3:07pm I don't much care if the same argument was used against interracial marriage. Different cases, opposite sides.
Then, racists were trying use government to change the definition of marriage to add a racial component. For a while, they largely succeeded, at least in law. Now, gay people are trying use government to change the definition to remove the gender component. They may partially succeed in law -- though never in fact.
Both are cases of government sticking its nose where it has no business, trying to adjust the definition of "marriage" to cater to the whims of zealots.

They can have a reception and gifts. They can go on a 'honeymoon'. They can have sex 'til they're raw. They can cohabitate like they're Ward and June Cleaver. It ain't a marriage, but nobody's stopping them from pretending."
The underlying contempt is pretty clear, But I'M the one being a dick huh?
Permalink Reply by Jesse W. Rowlings on January 23, 2013 at 12:31pm Cisco, shut the hell up. I support you as much as my best friends (A GAY COUPLE). BUT you are ruining it for everyone by being a dick.
A political discussion has never succeeded if it has descended into this stupidity.

Ahhhh, that's not very nice, I'm such a nice guy when you get to know me.
Permalink Reply by Cisco Carson on January 23, 2013 at 3:11pm I never said I wasn't a dick Jesse. I'm a real asshole. Doesn't take away from my arguments though.
Cisco--I have not said anything attacking or be-littling. I am asking a serious question, if you prefer you can personal message me but i have yet to hear a logical argument. I am not anti-gay or someone who bashes for the sake of bashing. I do not feel anyone has done any of this, Jack has posed a very good response to my post however i would like an inside scoop. I may not be swayed in my opinion or belief but i may walk away with a better understanding and that is all i am asking for.
