Ostensibly because of an affair. Of course it does seem suspicious that it comes 3 days after the election and 5 days before he was supposed to testify before Congress about Benghazi.

I'm not a fan of leaking; I think it's criminal, when it comes to national security, at least. Obviously, no president has been able to stop it, though not all suffer as much from leaks... I think the folks you mention are nevertheless a majority; the problems is that in certain cases that's not enough...

Just last week, several Navy SEALs were reprimanded for revealing classified information during a two-day consultation on the video game Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

Some of us aren't even retired.

And some not so retired.

How much will anyone here agree with this(my) theory:
Petraius was forced to "fall on his sword"(resign) over an alledged affair. Then he conveniently dies of a car accident, heart attack, or pissed off wife. Then the whole Benghazi incident gets conveniently wrapped up, and hanged on him????? Those that are the real guilty parties get away scott free!!!

PS-It has happened before. Look at what happened to Bill Casey during Iran-Contra.

Two words: Vince Foster

This one is not a political figure but still a big one. Cliff Baxter and one of the main reasons it was labeled a suicide was that the car was locked with him inside of it.

You're right. I forgot about him.

Whether or not you agree with his politics. Here's an article from Glen Beck describing what happened to Petraius as a set up.

Sweet holy batshit crazy conspiracy theory batman. I forgot how paranoid Beck was since he was decided to be too much for Fox.

Dude was banging a younger chick who wrote a biography about him. End of story.

Lots of screwy stuff going on.

1) Lockheed-Martin accepts Obama's 'guidance' and delays sending tens of thousands of layoff notices until after the election.

2)  Iran shoots down one of our drones in international waters but that info. was too secret to reveal until after the election.

3)  Hillary Clinton will step down as U.S. Secretary of State within 'days' of President Barack Obama's second inauguration in January

4)  Petraeus scandal was known about and sat on until after the election but comes just before Benghazi hearings and subsequently he won't testify

5) Clinton Refuses to Testify on Benghazi, Cites Scheduling Conflict

6) U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told students at the University of Baltimore Law School on Thursday that he's considering stepping down

I understand a lot of this is business as usual, individually, but collectively I can't recall business running like this ever before.

2) Shot at. Not shot down. It's interesting to deconstruct from an intelligence viewpoint.  Not so interesting from a political viewpoint.
