SO, if this is the case, anyone out there with a vindictive boy/girlfriend could end your career over a lapse in judgement & allowing them to video or photograph you having sex. Anyone else think its odd that this is exactly how Kardashian became famous?

What if she was a good teacher but a crappy porn star?
Those who can't, teach?

Teachers are more than just a medium for delivering information. Otherwise we could save a lot of money and replace teachers with a book or videos of someone teaching the material. A teacher should be able to be a role model, a leader, a nurturer, someone who you can rely on if you have a problem. Children take so much more away from a teacher than just the subject material that was taught. Being able to make wise decisions and being able to avoid terrible decisions are both qualities needed as a teacher.
I taught swim lessons as a teenager. At the beginning of the summer the head guy asked us to raise our hand if we remembered who our swim instructor was. Almost all of us knew the name of the person who taught us to swim and remembered their personality. We were not simply teaching a child to swim we were going to be in a position where we will be remembered and our actions will be remembered for decades or even the rest of someones life.
I'm sure just about everyone here remembers their teachers; of course some teachers stand out more than others. We remember the name of the teacher but we do not remember the name of the text book that we used because the teacher is more than a medium in which knowledge is passed on.
I used to see my teachers out locally drinking in restaurants, saw them outside smoking, hell, my favorite history teacher that gave me an absolute love for the subject came to class reaking of booze.
It was what they taught that changed me, it was how they taught that motivated me and made me remember. I didn't mean shit what they did outside of class.
Permalink Reply by Jack Bauer on January 17, 2013 at 11:09am It is a lesson worth teaching your kids ... some mistakes can't be undone. This is one of them. She squandered her credibility and respectability in a profession where both are crucial.
I don't think it is the case that a vindictive ex-husband could end your career, though. This wasn't a matter of a leaked private tape. She wasn't a victim. The movie was made for publication. She knew what she was doing ... and apparently even said she was a 'teacher' on the video. Good grief.
Not exactly analogous to Kardashian. Celebrities need not be respected. Kardiashian is a train wreck, not an authority figure.

How does making a porn for adults make any difference to how well you can teach children?
Permalink Reply by Jack Bauer on January 17, 2013 at 11:21am The district found out about the video from the students. That's how.

I fail to see how her previous 'acting' career affects whether or not she can teach.Secondly, I have major issues on the whole idea that she can never be an authority figure. So, are you saying a parent who took part in some illicit activity as a teenager can never tell their children not to do the same?
More importantly, I think it's granting employers far too much reign over our supposedly free lives. If they can say 'no porn', what next? No X-box? No duck-faces in facebook posts? So long as it's legal, I don't see what business it is of an employer. She's not a spokeswoman of the school after hours.
Whoa, slow down, I have no problem with a "no duck faces"
well, ok, I agree duck-faces should be banned
Permalink Reply by Jack Bauer on January 18, 2013 at 10:44am You fail to see how students seeing their teacher nude and penetrated on a public video affects her ability to teach those same students? It isn't that complicated.
It is always the business of an employer to discern who they want representing them. This has nothing to do with her private life. This video was her public life.
A parent whose 'illicit activity' is public record is going to have major credibility problems telling their children not to do the same. Doesn't mean they can't try ... but its going to be a tougher sell. Still -- you can't choose your parent ... you can choose your teacher.

Permalink Reply by Erg on February 10, 2013 at 9:42pm Lots of things can affect a teachers ability to be a credible teacher. Perfectly legal things. The question isn't "Does having a past as a pornstar make her less effective as a teacher?" Of course it dsoes. The question is why single out being a pornstar versus other possible impediments? Every teacher is going to have things about their history and character that undermine their teaching ability. Unless that character and history threatens the students health and safety, it seems to those impediments out to be judged by their results. Testing would demonstrate if her authority was critically damaged or not.
