Say huh what? Another bullshit article trying to make it appear that Muslims are destroying the political right's fairytale America. I guess next they will try and replace Apple Pie with baklava.
So they don't want Muslims to fight for America. I bet Muhammad Ali wishes the recruiters felt that way back when he was drafted. Likewise with the Sikhs. Some of the best fighters in the British and Canadian forces during WWII were Sikhs. More for us I guess.

Permalink Reply by Stephen on December 27, 2011 at 10:42am I think the point is that it's almost exactly the opposite of what you said.

Permalink Reply by John Muir on December 27, 2011 at 1:43pm Sikhs carry a knife called a Kirpan they get when they're baptized. Not all of them do it, just the Orthodox. It's supposed to symbolize truth cutting evil, and actually be a second-amendment type deterrent to violence. They're supposed to use it to defend the unarmed when all else fails.
Kirpans were an issue a few years ago in Montreal schools with Sikh kids claiming them to be religious objects and they are allowed to carry them as protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights Vs the schools wanting to ban them as potential weapons.
Permalink Reply by Kory G Leach on December 26, 2011 at 4:36pm There is at least one active duty officer who is Sikh who had previously been allowed to wear the turban that is associated with the Indian religion. So for a High School kid to be able to in JROTC what is the big deal? Besides our military is there in part to defend the Constitution of the US and if freedom of religion isn't a major basis of it what is? It's not like Nat'l secrets are being divulged to the children. Oh and for the record I am a service member and a former JROTC kid oh, and Republican to boot.
