This group is proposing a one way trip for colonist to Mars.  Critics are calling this a "suicide mission" but by the same token life is a suicide mission.

The Indian Space Research Organization has discovered a massive underground chamber near the moon's equator, one that would be perfect for housing a moon base. A moon base!

"Discovered by the Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft, this chamber is more than one mile long and 393 feet wide. There would be lots of benefits of building a moon base in there, mainly for protection from the nastiness of the surface of the moon. It'd provide a nearly constant temperature of -4 degrees Fahrenheit, unlike the surface, which fluctuates between 266 degrees and -292 degrees. And it would provide protection from radiation, micro-meteor impacts and dust."

Space shuttle Discovery ferry flight from Carswell Airforce Base in Fort Worth, Texas. The flight arrived earlier from Amarillo, Texas. This image shows the flight during takeoff for the Fort Worth, TX to Shreveport, LA leg of the trip from Edwards Airforce Base in California to Cape Canaveral in Florida.

Wow, Sasha! That's great! I love talking to people like your Dad. Apollo, to me, was the most amazing thing I've ever heard that humans have done. The inspiration I've gotten from Apollo has completely steered my course in life thus far. I would love to see anything you can show of that book NASA gave your dad! That is too cool!

In his younger days, Old Fart aka Dad was an Electronic Engineer. Components he designed, tested and had built were part of the Apollo Missions. Old Fart's finger prints are on the moon. NASA put together a nice book with photos for him it is somewhere in my garage. I shall dig it out and when I get a chance scan and upload photos to this group.
