I've got a smallish carry-all type bag that I picked up from Mountain Equipment Co-op. It's the perfect size: it's holds everything I need on a daily basis without being huge, but it's still large enough that it avoids looking like a woman's purse.

I regularly carry a notebook or 2, my cell phone, my camera, a book or two, a refillable water bottle, pens, and business cards. My lunch is usually packed in there, too, if it's a work day.

I still keep my wallet in my (front) pocket, though. I just can't break that habit. I don't feel right leaving my wallet in a bag that could be stolen (I know I could be mugged or pick-pocketed, but it just feels safer in my pocket than in my man bag).

My primary bag is a Timbuk2 Messenger bag, size medium. The essentials: netbook, cell phone, gum, assorted pens and pencils, note cards, USB drives, MP3 player, ear buds, bandana, wallet, glasses/sunglasses with microfiber cleaning cloth, duct tape (rewrapped, not a whole roll), pocket knife/multi-tool, toothbrush, chapstick, keys (apartment, car, bike lock), a clif bar, and a water bottle (BPA free cameblack or nalgene). And then I usually add in situationally needed items, such as books, magazines, notebooks, rain jacket, sweatshirt/jacket, and more. I can fit my whole weekend worth of clothes and personal care products in my bag with no worries.

I've actually been using a swiss army backpack to hold my laptop and essentials. Its awesome carries my, Ipod, laptop, books, camera and all the little extras that go with it. Getting a manly brief case would be awesome!

I have a cheap old Old Navy messenger bag - student on a budget, so i can't afford anything else. It totes around notebooks, pens, laptop and occasionally food. It's getting worn and torn just the way it should, with ink stains and a well worn strap, making it play the part of the student bag. It also doubles as my slackline gear bag in the summer, holding carabeaners and lengths of tubular webbing, as well as a waterbottle, a notebook and a towel. It's got nothing on saddleback bags though, they are a thing of manly beauty...

I've been using a Millennium Leather Vaqueta Contemporary Laptop Briefcase for almost 3 years. It holds quite a bit for it's size, including the laptop, of course. It serves me well, but I would be happy to retire it for a Saddleback though. ;)

(New to the AoM forums. Hiya.)

I have a seven-year old Kenneth Cole messenger bag I've been using pretty regularly as a work bag. Carries my book(s) for the train/bus, my lunch, umbrella, USB drive, mp3 player, Tic Tacs, and whatever else I need. Funny thing is, I got it as a birthday present from an ex. The relationship died a few months after receiving the bag, but the bag remains, and hopefully will for a while.

Can't say I'm not coveting these Saddleback bags, though. Dang.

I have a khaki colored canvas bag, and a black backpack that I switch between. I tend to carry: Notebook and pens, laptop, extended battery, small mini usb cable, usb flashdrive, wireless mouse, a book (enjoyment reading), work and school notes/books, a little 3-Outlet Grounding Wall Tap Adapter, umbrella. sometimes my psp and/or mp3 player go in there too when i dont want them in my pockets. This is a loot of stuff haha, but I have work and then night classes, so I use a lot of things during the day.
