What leather product do you wish was out in the market but that you just can't find anywhere? Is there something you've been wishing would come out for years? I've heard a lot of ideas. Good, bad and ugly. I like them all.
Since we've recently been talking about shaving a lot on Art of Manliness, I've always wanted to see a rugged, cool leather Dopp kit. Something you'd see a gold miner or a mountain man using to hold his straight razor and badger hair brush back in the 1800s.
You read my mind Jonathan. I've been looking for a solid leather Dopp kit for quite awhile. Right now the only thing I could find that came close was a leather/canvas one from Fossil. I've seen the Col Littleton ones, but I'm not a big fan of buttons and zippers (guess it's SBL's fault ha ha). This summer, since fire season was slow, I grabbed a couple chunks of leather and whipped up some leather cases for my straight edge razor and my DE razor oh, and a watchband. (yeah it was a slooooow season)
I searched pretty hard for a decent leather dopp kit to give as wedding presents for a couple of my best friends a few months ago. I have the Fossil leather and canvas one mentioned in the previous post and really like the way it looks. Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere anymore and it isn't really that rugged. The zippers snag and the mesh pocket came completely off of mine without me ever using it. I ended up settling with making them shaving brushes and putting together some nice shave supplies.
If anyone knows where to get a hold on another of the Fossil bags, I would love to know. I remember that the price was good and have a feeling I just had bad luck with mine.
Here is an image of the Fossil one. Mine is green canvas instead of the blue.
Damn Craig, I'm loving the leather holders you made. Great idea! A Saddleback Dopp Kit, with holders inside for a straight blade or razor. What do you think?
