Opps I realize my first mistake by mentioning league where as i meant union, my apologies.  Very little "league rugby" besides Magners Cup is shown.  Here is a link to what DirecTV offers DirecTV Rugby

and Fox Soccer Plus which seems to offer more Heineken and Premiership Fox Soccer Plus

Cheers!

It really depends on what league you interested in.  On DirecTV during the 6 nations the BBC channel showed the majority of the games.  Now during the Super 15 DirecTV has channel 490 dedicated to that, the tri nations, not sure about the world cup.  Also Fox Soccer Plus (subscription) would attempt to show rugby, but they did a piss poor job at it and show only a game or two of the premiership.

I am the founder and captain of the Mexicali Rugby Club, I played 10 seasons of football and in my years in college decided to start a rugby club. Men answered the call of rugby and consolidated the team, on our first tournament we placed 3rd, for many of us it was the first time we played but fell in love with the game. Rugby is without a doubt a team sport and a brotherhood on and off the pitch. I play hooker, the scrum is my favorite part of the game of rugby, one of the most manly challenges: raw power vs raw power.

I am on a U16 (well U16 in 2 months) rugby team, and it just hurts to play surrounded by undedicated sods who are there because their parents want them to be! They should man up and play proper rugby or get out and stop ruining the sport, which just so happens to be the best sport on earth!

That was a big reason SpikeTV aired League games, they thought that it was closer to the pace and action of football and thought it would catch on here better. Above all though I have recently started finding myself looking for more 7s matches to watch and have been trying to get myself in better shape to play.

I'd definately agree, that Union is more strategic with regards to control of field position, and the ability of certain player positions on the pitch to be able to control the game. As a spectator sport I'd argue that League games are consistently more entertaining to watch, although the top international games in Union are the most exciting.

The hits may be harder, but I think union requires more skill and strategy.

By the looks of it, I'll be outnumbered on this one but ... Rugby League or Rugby Union? I prefer League, the hits are harder.
