Still hanging in there. A better shave today, but the chin and upper lip are ... tricky.

@ Christopher F: It typically takes some time to develop proper technique. I'd question also if your razor is truly "shave ready". Who honed it?

I have tried straight razors - sharpened to perfection and stropped with care, but after little success I consulted a barber. He told me that, alas, I am a baby face; the razor needs a good beard to work with.

He suggested a straight-style rasor with disposable blades. This is the one I got, and it's great - a stainless steel beauty for $10 from Williamsport Barber Supply. That, plus a jar of shave cream which has lasted me a year (I said I was a baby face).

I envy you guys with a heavy beard. My pal who hates shaving has a beard like Moses.

I've been using a straight razor for about a month now. Half of the enjoyment is the process. Stroping, prepping, etc., but even with an 8 o'clock shadow when I shave it's not comfortable. It feels like the blade is pulling more than cutting, but never having done this before in my life I don't know if that's normal. When I use a safety razor on the same beard it glides right through it. I know the straight razor is sharp because I've cut myself all to easily, but then again, maybe the sharpness to cut skin doesn't require the same sharpness to cut whiskers. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Well, that's a new spam strategy. I think that's the first time I've seen spam in a group comment. You're evolving.

Evolution is not always positive.

Pride vs. Arrogance

Hey guys,Came to the AoM community a few months ago for some relationship advice and was very pleased with what feedback I received! Now I come to you with another query: Ive been reading a lot of the articles lately and they talk about being proud of yourself as a man.I like to think Ive accomplished a lot in my 21 years, and Im happy where I am. But I often wonder to myself: have I crossed the line from being proud to being arrogant?I want to know your opinions on the subject. Where is the…See More
